The Super Bowl match-up is set. The San Francisco 49ers Vs Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs are now a one point favorite.

Max and Arch place a little wager on that early line.

Then the Degens make their NBA plays today and Max gives us his NHL picks. Is there value on the Red Wings today?

Excerpts from Max’s Notes:

NBA Lakers at Celtics The Celtics have lost 3 in a row. They lost on Saturday without Kemba Walker and Jaylen Brown. Both are listed as questionable today. In their absence Marcus Smart stepped up but it wasn’t enough to beat the Suns. That was a rare home loss but now they face another potential home loss as the Lakers are in town. The Lakers beat the Rockets on Saturday without Anthony Davis – who is questionable for tonight. The Lakers are great on the road but I think Boston steps up today. I wish the Celtics were getting more points here.

Pistons at Wizards Just when you think you’ve figured out the Pistons they beat the Celtics and then beat the Hawks by 33. Washington’s lone win over their last 5 was over that same Hawks team. Money is solidly on the Bullets.

Raptors at Hawks Toronto is looking back to form which is bad news for the Eastern Conference. Other than the Bucks, there’s no other team in the East that I wouldn’t be shocked if the Raptors beat them in a playoff series. In their 10 point win over Minnesota on Saturday they didn’t even need a full dose of Siakim as Lowry and VanFleet led the way. The Hawks had some success this week that fooled me into betting them over the Pistons. That didn’t turn well.

76ers at Nets Another game with Kyrie. Another loss. A bad one against the Bucks too. Brooklyn hosts the road awful Sixers today. Philly did get the win over the Knicks but only scored 90 points and couldn’t even cover a 4 point spread. Al Horford got injured in that game and is questionable for today. I hate the Sixers on the road but Brooklyn is playing like crap right now. They lost by 11 to this same Sixers team last Wednesday. This could be the time Kyrie gets his comeback statement win.

Kings at Heat The Kings were the first team to start the trade season off as they dealt Trevor Ariza to the Blazers for Bazemore. After losing 4 in a row I’m sure they will be making even more deals. The Heat are coming off a loss yesterday to the Spurs and they’ve cooled off a bit lately – losing 3 of 5. But those were all on the road and Miami is 18-1 at home this season and 14-5 ATS. The sharp money is all over the Kings which scares me a bit.

Bulls at Bucks Here’s your square play of the day and if you ask me, it’s a bit light. The Bucks have been a covering machine lately and the bigger the line the bigger they cover. Chicago has won 3 of 5 but are a dreadful 7-14 on the road.

Thunder at Rockets These teams meet again after matching up about a week and a half ago. The Thunder got the better of the Rockets in that one but the action shifts to Houston for today’s game. Only the Rockets have been the missiles a lot lately and have dropped their last 2 home games and have lost 4 of 5.

Magic at Hornets Charlotte is mired in a 6 game losing streak and Orlando is looking to snap a 2 game losing streak of their own including an embarrassing loss to the Warriors on Saturday. Money and public are on opposite ends of this one which sharps all over Charlotte. The Hornets will get a win eventually and this could be a good game to take.

Pelicans at Grizzlies Two young teams with some potential to sneak into the Western Conference playoffs. Right now, the Grizzlies seem to be ahead of their rebuild but the Pelicans haven’t even seen Zion on the court yet. That had given Ja Morant the rookie of the year award as he’s solidified the young Memphis core. The Grizzlies have won 7 in a row and have become a force when they are at home – going 9-1 over their last 10 home games.

NHL Red Wings at Avalanche The Red Wings have lost 4 in a row and have a goal differential of -14 in that span. The Avalanche has been in a slump but have bounced back to win 2 in a row. I wish I could say there is value in Detroit.

Panthers at Wild On Saturday, I was turned off by the low amount of chalk for Dallas against Minnesota. Glad I held back. The Wild beat the Stars 7-0. They now welcome the Panthers into town. Florida has won 4 in a row and 3 of their last 4 on the road. Sergei Bobrovsky was back in goal on Saturday for Florida and hopefully he can stay healthy for them.
