It’s week two for the PGA’s FedEX Cup playoffs. It’s down to the top 70 with the Tour stopping at Olympia Fields Country Club in Olympia Fields, Il. The south-suburban Chicago course is 7,366 yards long and plays par 70 for the pros.
Jim Furyk lifted the US Open Trophy the last time the PGA stopped at this track in 2003. While the course isn’t long by PGA standards, it does have seven par 4s that require some muscle off the tee, ranging from 450 to 500 yards. That could put a big emphasis on driving accuracy and approach shots. It’s no surprise that Olympia Fields was a good fit four Furyk as he is always near the top in Green in Regulation percentage. In 2003, Furyk’s -8 was good enough for the W. It won’t be this week; expect scores to be much lower.
