Excerpts from the show and Mad Max’s
notes:
MLB
Nationals at Astros
It comes down to this. Scherzer against Grienke. One was built for such big moments and the other one’s name is Zack Grienke.
NBA
Bucks at Celtics
Going to be interesting to see how Boston game plans for the Bucks without Horford. Al was fairly successful against Giannis last season and now it looks like it might be up to the Williams’ on the team to contain him.
Knicks at Magic
The Knicks have not looked terrible to start the year and are coming off a win against the Bulls. Vucevic is coming off a terrible game and overall the Magic have limped our of the gate. The money seems to be backing Orlando….
Bulls at Cavs
The Cavs are 2-1 against the spread to start the season and the Bulls don’t seem right. Their young talent hasn’t gelled yet and they were embarrassed by former Bull Bobby Portis the other night.
Timberwolves at Sixers
The T-Wolves are 3-0 and look impressive to start the season but haven’t been tested yet. They get their first real challenge tonight in Philadelphia. The Sixers are 3-0 and hope to bring their home record from last season into this year.
Pacers at Nets
The Pacers are off to an 0-3 start and while it’s hard to believe them starting with 4 straight losses…
Pistons at Raptors
The Pistons are off to a pretty good start and Dwayne Casey gets to coach against his former team after winning them win a championship last season. The Raptors are looking like serious threats in the East and I could see them making a splashy move during the season to get them even more ready for a playoff push.
Blazers at Thunder
OKC is 1-3 on the season but 3-1 against the spread.
Rockets at Wizards
The Rockets have yet to cover and they keep getting big spreads. This one is a tad lower with them being on the road. The Bullets have not looked as awful as we thought they would be and they hung with San Antonio on the road.
Hornets at Kings
Sacramento is 0-4 and finally get a reprieve from a brutal schedule to start the year. The Hornets have been dominated in 3 straight games.
Clippers at Jazz
Solid matchup to test the Clippers. Without Paul George I think it’s a challenge to match up with the depth of the Jazz. Utah was pushed hard by the Suns on Monday night but showed why they will be an elite team in the West.
Suns at Warriors
The Warriors got a much needed win but they still look like a team that lost two of their best players in the offseason and traded one of their best defenders and bench players. The Warriors have not found cohesion yet with Russell and Curry. Green looks a bit lackadaisical out there at times
NHL
Panthers at Avalanche
The Avalanche are a bit beaten up and missing two of their three best players right now, but they have depth in their lines. The Panthers are coming off a tough loss in Vancouver.
Wild at Blues
Minnesota is coming off a big loss yesterday against Dallas and now have to play St. Louis. The Blues have lost Tarasenko for the rest of the season and that’s a huge blow for them.
