Max’s Notes

Knicks at 76ers

The Knicks lost to the Hornets and now have to turn around and head to Philadelphia to play the Sixers. Philly is coming off two losses last night: another road loss and the loss of the always healthy Joel Embiid. The Sixers are 27-2 at home but without Embiid and Simmons they will need to rely on Tobias Harris and Al Horford. It could be enough to beat the Knicks for their 6th straight loss, but not cover. I’ll bet New York.

Blazers at Pacers

The Pacers are coming off that blowout win over the Hornets on Tuesday and welcome in a Blazers team that is 10-20 on the road. Damian Lillard remains out for Portland who has lost 4 of 5. The Pacers are 20-10 straight up and 14-13-3 against the spread at home this season and that record improves when Kyle is at the game. This line is close due to Lillard being out but it’s a big ask for Indiana. They get the win but Portland keeps it within 6 here. I’ll bet the Blazers.

Kings at Thunder

That fools gold of a team won by 18 over Golden State on Tuesday and now they turn around and head to OKC today. The Kings have won 3 in a row and 7 of 10. The Thunder have won 4 straight and 8 of their last 10. It’s a team that is 19-12 at home and currently 5th in the West. As it stands, you’d have an OKC and Houston first round matchup. That would be a blast. I think the Thunder add another win tonight and I like to them to cover here. I’ll bet OKC.

Lakers at Warriors

Two clips made the rounds on Twitter yesterday. One was Steph Curry nailing long threes during practice – signaling his expected return next week. The other was LeBron James posterizing dunk over former teammate Josh Hart. That one is significant because you can see LeBron’s crotch colliding with Hart’s face and now LeBron is listed as out with a sore groin. So LA will need to get it done without him today. I think they do but they’ve had a rough time covering even with him around. I’ll lean the Warriors with the points.

Devils at Sharks

The Devils went on a selling spree but it’s allowed them to go with more of their youth and it’s paying off. They have won 4 of 5 including a win over this Sharks team a week ago. The Sharks have lost 5 in a row and are only 14-15-1 at home this year. I like the Devils as a plus line here. I’ll bet New Jersey.

Rangers at Canadiens

The Rangers are red hot and are a plus number heading into Montreal where the Canadiens are only 13-15-6 at home this season. This could be an instance of selling on good news with the Rangers with the money all on them and the line getting better. But I’ll fall into the trap and bet the Rangers.
