Max’s Notes

Timberwolves at Magic

Minnesota got a surprise win in Miami on Wednesday. Now they will try for a second road win in Florida. The Magic have won 2 in a row and 4 of 5. Aaron Gordon has played well in February and that’s helped the Magic win some games lately. But the Magic aren’t a covering machine at home – posting a 10-18-1 ATS record. As bad as Minnesota has played, it’s hard for me to bet Orlando. I’ll lean the Timberwolves with the points.

Nets at Hawks

The Nets have lost two in a row after Wednesday’s road loss in Washington. They head to Atlanta to play a Hawks team that has also lost two in a row. Trae Young scores 37 in his last game while battling the flu and is now questionable for tonight’s game. For Brooklyn, Caris Lavert has looked good for the Nets and has taken over some of the offense that Kyrie would be scoring. I like Brooklyn here to get another road win so I’ll bet the Bets.

Hornets at Raptors

The Raptors could not keep up with the Bucks on Tuesday but now get the pleasure of hosting the Hornets tonight. Charlotte is coming off a win over the Knicks and have won 3 of 5. But those other two wins were against sub .500 teams as well and Charlotte doesn’t have the offense to match up with a decent team let alone a very good one like Toronto. The Raptors are 23-8 straight up and 18-12 ATS at home. Its a lot of chalk but I’ll eat it. I’ll bet the Raptors here.

Mavs at Heat

Jimmy Butler did end up playing the other night but he ended up losing to his former Timberwolves team. He will play again tonight as the Heat host the Mavs. One player we are not certain about is Luka Doncic who is questionable with a sprained right thumb. Despite Wednesday’s loss, Miami is 23-4 at home this season but they could be in jeopardy of losing 2 straight. Dallas is a very good road team at 20-9 and Miami is 3-7 over their last 10. If you download and listen to every single episode, then you’d remember me talking about how I thought the Heat would inevitably cool off. Luka’s uncertainty prevents me from betting them, but I’ll still lean Dallas.

Kings at Grizzlies

Memphis is mired in a slump as they’ve lost 4 in a row. They welcome in the fools gold tonight as the Kings play in a back to back. They couldn’t beat OKC last night, but they kept it close enough to make me lose my bet. This is the 4th straight road game for the Kings who are 12-19 on the road straight up but 19-12 ATS. I think this is a few too many points for the Grizzlies but I can’t trust Sacramento on a back to back or really can’t trust them at all. I’ll lean the Kings.

Thunder at Bucks

OKC got their 5th win in a row last night but they have to try to win #6 today against the best team in the league. The Bucks have won 4 in a row and are 26-3 at home. Giannis is listed as probable tonight but should suit up in this matchup against a playoff team. OKC is a tough matchup for the Bucks but I still think Milwaukee gets this one. I’ll lean the Bucks.

Cavs at Pelicans

Maybe it was a coaching issue in Cleveland because this team has won 4 of 5. They hope to slow down the Pelicans playoff push. New Orleans is coming off to that loss from the Lakers but Zion continues to impress and they’ve won 6 out of 10. Andre Drummond is out for Cleveland but I still like them today. Pelicans will get the win but this is too many points. I’ll bet the Cavs.

Pistons at Suns

Phoenix still has slim playoff hopes but they need to start winning ASAP. They just found out that Kelly Oubre is out for the season but otherwise, the team is healthy and capable of winning games. This is one of them. The Pistons have lost 7 in a row and are ready to fold for the year. This line seems about right to me. I’ll lean Phoenix.

Wizards at Jazz

The Jazz lost to the Celtics on Wednesday – making it 3 losses in a row and 3 home losses in a row. The Bullets are coming off a good win over Brooklyn on Wednesday. Bradley Beal continues to look good but he’s only one man. And the Jazz are bound to get out of their funk. I’ll fade the money here and lean Utah.

Nuggets at Clippers

Both teams have won 2 in a row after dealing with some minor losing streaks. Both teams are healthy and ready for their playoff seeding push. LA is a damn good home team but gets lazy with covering games – only 16-12 ATS at home. Denver is decent enough on the road and this line seems doable for them to stay close to. It’s a tad trappish with the money on LA and the line getting better for them. Traps don’t mean much in the NBA but I’ll avoid it anyway. I’ll lean the Denver.

Rangers at Flyers

The Rangers got a big win last night and are one of the NHL’s hottest teams. But they face a tough task of playing the Flyers tonight in their back to back. Philly has won 4 in a row and are 22-5-4 at home. The public is on Philly but sharps coming in on the Rangers and I have to agree. I hate that it’s a back to back but the Rangers at this plus line is a solid play. I’ll bet New York again.

Wild at Blue Jackets

Minnesota has won 2 in a row and 4 of 5. They head to Columbus where the Blue Jackets just can’t seem to get right. In fact, their last loss was on Tuesday against this Wild team. The money and public are on Minnesota and I have to agree. I wish the payout was a tad more for a team that is underwhelming on the road. But screw it. I’ll bet them anyway. I’m on Minnesota.

Avalanche at Hurricanes

The Avalanche have won 4 in a row and their high powered offense is better on the road than it is at home. Carolina is a tough place to play in and the Hurricanes are 19-11-2 there this season. But Colorado is looking damn good right now and as a plus line, I’ll bite. Betting the Avalanche.

Sabres at Golden Knights

Vegas has won 7 in a row and host a Buffalo team that is 10-16-4 on the road this season. If the question is if there is value in betting the Sabres the answer is no. I’ll lean the Golden Knights here.

Penguins at Ducks

The Penguins have lost 4 in a row and are bound to get out of this funk. The Ducks give them a good opportunity to do so. But Pittsburgh is on their 3rd straight road game and haven’t been stellar on the road this year. Way to chalky to bet but I’ll lean the Penguins.
