The Degens give their post Super Bowl thoughts and then it’s back to work. They make their NBA picks and then Max gives us his NHL action.

Excerpts from Max’s Notes:

NBA Celtics at Hawks I’ve bet on Boston their last two games and I dare not push fate too much. The Celtics won on Saturday without Kemba and may have to do so again today. But the Hawks might be without Trae Young who left his last game with an injury. Boston has won 3 in a row.

Warriors at Wizards The Warriors got a win on Saturday and look to win consecutive games for only the second time this season. They head to Washington to play a Bullets team that has won 2 in a row on the back or Bradley Beal’s great play.

Magic at Hornets Orlando has lost 5 in a row and hope to break that streak as they head to Charlotte to take on a Hornets team that has only 1 win in their last 10 games. Charlotte is as good of a team at home as Orlando is on the road. But that doesn’t say much for either teams. Sadly this line is too close for me to bet on.

Knicks at Cavs Some great matchups tonight. If Warriors/Wizards or Magic/Hornets didn’t do it for you well then here’s Knicks/Cavs. The Knicks are coming off that big upset in Indy over the Pacers and face a Cavs team that has lost 3 in a row. These teams are battling for lottery balls at this point but tanking didn’t do the Knicks good last season. Oddly trappish one. The money and public are on the Knicks and the line is getting better for them. Traps are a coin flip in the NBA so shouldn’t matter here.

Mavs at Pacers The Pacers look to shake off that upset loss on Saturday by welcoming the Luka-less Mavs to town. The Mavs dismantled the Hawks on Saturday without Luka and Porzingis. It was a great team effort but Indiana will be a much bigger challenge here. Pacers are 18-6 at home and 12-9-3 ATS at home. The Mavs are a very good road team but the loss of Luka is just too much here against this Pacers team.

Suns at Nets Kyrie is out again for at least a week. This time it’s a knee injury but it could have been much worse. Without him, the Nets lost to the Bullets on Saturday and now head home to welcome a Suns team that still can’t seem to regain that fire they had earlier in the season. Phoenix is pretty good on the road though posting a 11-12 straight up and 14-9 ATS on the road this season. Hard to say what Nets team shows up. They can play without Kyrie but Booker should have an easier time tonight without him on the court.

76ers at Heat Seems like a no brainer here. 76ers are awful on the road and Miami is great at home. Saturday’s loss in Boston was Philly’s second straight loss – both on the road. The Heat have actually lost two of their last three home games but that makes them 21-3 straight up and 16-8 ATS. Philly is 9-17 on the road. I hate that this is a no brainer but here I am.

Pistons at Grizzlies Jaren Jackson is back from suspension today and the Grizzlies aim to look past that big loss against the Pelicans on Friday. The Pistons got a surprise win yesterday against the Nuggets I don’t see them doing that again.
