Today, Max has to figure out how to deal with success in the NBA and success betting on his Celtics.

We first take a quick look at Super Bowl futures. Is there value in betting the Rams already?

Arch and Max make their NBA plays, with Panther’s written picks and then Max gives us his NHL picks of the day.

Excerpts from Max’s notes:

NBA Bucks at Pelicans The Pelicans lost on Sunday in Houston but return home to welcome the Bucks. New Orleans had won 3 in a row prior to that loss while the Bucks got back to their winning ways on Sunday after a minor blip last Friday in a loss to Denver. Milwaukee is 19-4 straight up and 13-10 ATS on the road. So they should win but can they cover is the question.

Hornets at Rockets Clint Capela is out again for Houston and it might be precautionary as rumors swirl about him being traded soon. The Rockets have played small ball without him and have had success in winning 3 of 4. But it’s not sustainable and it’s crazy that a rim protector like him would be made available by a team that will need a rim protector come playoff time. The Hornets have lost 11 of 12 games and are 4-6 ATS in their last 10. But Charlotte has done well covering on the road when getting big lines. Houston should cover this one but I can’t remember when they last covered a big line.

Trail Blazers at Nuggets Portland has won 4 in a row and Damian Lillard has looked unstoppable. The Blazers will be tested in Denver today when they face off against a Nuggets team that has not been stellar lately. They dropped an OT loss to Detroit on Sunday and continue to battle with injuries. Portland is only 10-16 straight up and 11-15 ATS on the road. The Nuggets home ATS isn’t stellar and I hate their injuries here, but I think they have enough to cover.

Spurs at Lakers The Spurs get that dreaded back-to-back in LA as they stay in the Staples Center to play the Lakers tonight. San Antonio had that close loss to the Clippers last night that dropped their road record to 8-15. But they are 13-9-1 ATS on the road and getting a double digit spread to work with tonight. The Lakers have not been covering the big spreads and in fact are only 20-20-1 ATS as favorites this season. That said I think LA shows up tonight.

NHL Canadians at Devils Montreal is 6-4 in their last 10 and are a better road team than at home – posting a 13-9-3 road record on the season. The Devils are just dreadful and especially bad at home. They do seem to push OT a lot in NJ but can’t seem to close the door.

Avalanche at Sabres Big shift in favor of Buffalo. Be interesting to see what money and public are doing. Buffalo is a pretty good home team but Colorado is great on the road.

Golden Knights at Lightning Looks a bit trappish with money and public in Tampa and line getting a tad better for them. Tampa won 4 of 5 on their road trip and head home where they are tough to beat. Vegas has won 3 of 5 on the road but aren’t a team you can depend on.

Stars at Islanders Dallas got the win in New York last night and will round our their NJ/NY series tonight against the Islanders. This will be Dallas’ third game in 4 nights. The Islanders have been in a bit of a slump lately but are 15-7-4 at home.
