NBA and NHL Bets! January 14th Degeneracy

We all did pretty well in the NBA yesterday, will it continue?

Excerpts from Max Max’s Notes:

NBA Suns at Hawks Phoenix has won two in a row and hit the road to play a Hawks team that have lost 4 straight. Atlanta is 4-14 at home straight up but that improves to 10-8 ATS. The Suns aren’t terrible on the road and they’ve seen improved play by Deandre Ayton since he’s been back from suspension and injury. Trae Young missed the Hawks last game with a hamstring issue and he’s once again listed as questionable.

Jazz at Nets The Nets saw the return of Kyrie Irving on Sunday and he led the way to a 22 point win over the Hawks. But now the Nets get a taste of the Utah Jazz and their 9 game winning streak. Utah beat the Bullets on Sunday by 11 and that was without Donovan Mitchell who missed the game due to illness but is probable to return today. Utah is a pretty good road team on the season but are 8-1-1 ATS over their last 10 road games. I really like them tonight but Kyrie is a wild card and need to see more play from him before betting on or against the Nets.

Knicks at Bucks The Knicks got a shocking win over Miami on Sunday as Jimmy Butler missed some critical free throws at the end of the game. Now New York takes on another top team in the Eastern Conference as they head to Milwaukee to take on the Bucks. Milwaukee has won 3 in a row in convincing fashion and should not have any issue handling the Knicks. But that chalk is intense. The Bucks are only 22-18 ATS as favorites and only 5-5 ATS over their last 10.

Rockets at Grizzlies Memphis is one of the hottest teams in the NBA right now. They’ve won 6 in a row. Now most of those games have been against lesser teams but still, Jonas Valanciunas and Jaren Jackson Jr. have been tearing things up and allowing for Ja Morant to pass the ball more. It’s created a balanced offense that is not reliant on just one guy scoring a bunch of points and 4 other guys standing around watching. Speaking of the Rockets, they are in Memphis tonight where they are coming off a 30 point win on Saturday that saw Harden only go off for 32 points. This is the front end of a back to back so Russell Wilson*** is our tonight for Houston and the Rockets are only 9-11 ATS on the road this year.

Mavs at Warriors Kristaps Porzingis remains questionable for tonight’s game but not sure if the Mavs need him as they head to Golden State to play a Warriors team that has lost 8 in a row. Luka Doncic had a near triple double on Saturday as he led the Mavs over the Sixers and it’s hard not to think he will have another big game today against a depleted Warriors team. The Warriors did get D’Angelo Russell back into their lineup and he had a monster game on Sunday but Draymond Green had only 3 points in that loss to the Grizzlies.

Cavs at Clippers The Cavs get the dreaded LA back-to-back as they play the Clippers tonight after getting slaughtered by the Lakers last night. The line is reflecting that loss and while there is no data yet you can imagine people will start jumping on the Clippers and maybe drive that line up even more. Never know what to expect with the Cavs so I can’t bet on them.

NHL Golden Knights at Sabres Vegas has lost 3 in a row and heads to Buffalo where the Sabres are a respectable 13-6-3 at home. The Golden Knights were big favorites in their 3 losses and they are favored again today. The line seems to be shifting in line with the public and money. So Vegas seems to think people will bet on this at a higher clip but I’m seeing value in Buffalo.

Red Wings at Islanders Mentioned that the Rangers are a dangerous team at home and they showed that to the Islanders yesterday. Now they host the lowly Red Wings who had won 2 in a row before getting manhandled by the Sabres on Sunday.

Stars at Avalanche Colorado has lost 3 in a row and are poised for a win. Unfortunately for them they face the Dallas Stars today. Dallas suffered a close loss on Saturday but have been very hot lately.

Sharks at Coyotes Arizona has lost 3 in a row and they also are poised for a win. The Sharks have won consecutive games and are 5-3-2 in their last 10. The Coyotes are slumping and being at home might not help. They are 11-10-2 at home.
