Max’s NBA Bet Picks for 3/13/21
Detroit (11.5) at Brooklyn (-11.5)
Pick: Bet $20 Brooklyn
Total: 228 (Lean Under – 220)
Predicted Score: Brooklyn 118 – Detroit 102
Overview: Kyrie Irving took it to Boston the other night and is hellbent on proving he’s not a massive headcase and that he’s capable of leading a team to a championship. It does help when James Harden is equally focused and their 3-point shooting role players can’t miss. Or that Boston forgot to play defense for a quarter.
But I digress.
The Nets host a Detroit team that is in complete rebuild mode. They cut Blake Griffin – who of course signed with Brooklyn – and they have said every player on their roster is available for trades. Detroit has one of the worst offenses in the league and they should get a bump by playing the Nets tonight – but they don’t have enough offense to keep up with the team with the best offensive metrics in the league.
$20 bet on the Nets to cover this chalky one.
Portland (-5) at Minnesota (5)
Pick: Bet $20 Portland
Total: 233 (Lean Under – 222)
Predicted Score: Portland 115 – Minnesota 107
Overview: Panther’s Blazers started off the second half with a loss to the Suns two days ago and get to play the redhot T-Wolves – who just won their first game in a month when they throttled New Orleans. Can they make it two in a row?
No. No they can’t. D’Angelo Russell continues to be out and you can’t expect them to shoot 47.5% from 3-point land in back-to-back games. The T-Wolves are shooting 35% from 3 this season – which ranks them 26th in the league. Their last game was against a New Orleans team that ranks 3rd worst in the league in defending the 3. Portland’s defense of the 3 is much better. Not amazing, but still much better.
The Blazers will need C.J. McCollum for their playoff run but for now, guys like Gary Trent Jr., Enes Kanter and Anfernee Simons have stepped up and have given Damian Lillard some help. I think they will have enough to beat Minnesota tonight and cover on the road.
$20 bet on Portland.
Indiana (7) at Phoenix (-7)
Pick: Bet $20 Phoenix
Total: 221 (Lean Under – 216)
Predicted Score: Phoenix 112 – Indiana 104
Overview: The Pacers kept it way closer to L.A. last night than I liked. But ultimately, they lost and didn’t cover the spread. Now they turn around to head to Phoenix to play a Suns team that is ready to make their playoff push.
The Suns have won 5 in a row and got that aforementioned win over Portland to start the second half. Devin Booker scored 35 in that game and has scored 30 or more points in 4 of his last 7 games. Indiana might get a boost today with a returning Caris Lavert – but I am sure he will be eased back in and will have some rust to shake off.
I like the Suns here to win and cover this one at home. $20 bet on Phoenix.
New York (-5.5) at Oklahoma City (5.5)
Pick: Lean New York
Total: 213.5 (Lean Under – 206)
Predicted Score: New York 106 – Oklahoma City 100
Notes: Derrick Rose and Austin Rivers are out for NY. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is out for OKC.
Sacramento (3.5) at Atlanta (-3.5)
Pick: Lean Atlanta
Total: 239 (Lean Under – 227)
Predicted Score: Atlanta 116 – Sacramento 111
Milwaukee (-10.5) at Washington (10.5)
Pick: Lean Washington
Total: 239.5 (Lean Under – 233)
Predicted Score: Milwaukee 118 – Washington 115
Toronto (2.5) at Charlotte (-2.5)
Pick: Lean Charlotte
Total: 229.5 (Lean Under – 216)
Predicted Score: Charlotte 111 – Toronto 105
Notes: Pascal Siakim, Fred VanVleet and OG Anunoby are still out for TOR.
Dallas (2.5) at Denver (-2.5)
Pick: Lean Denver
Total: 226.5 (Lean Under – 226)
Predicted Score: Denver 115 – Dallas 111
