Max’s NBA Bet Picks for 3/30/21
CHA (-2.5) at WAS (2.5)
Pick: Lean WAS
Total: 231.5 (Lean Under – 227)
Predicted Score: CHA 112 – WAS 115
Overview: Washington beat Indiana yesterday and Russell Westbrook had a vintage performance – putting up 35 points, 21 assists and 14 rebounds. Bradley Beal missed the game yesterday and is still day-to-day. The question will be if both or either he and Westbrook play tonight.
Which is one of my hesitations here. I do have Washington winning and covering this game – but the uncertainty of those two players is enough to give some pause. Especially with a Hornets team that has been playing quite well lately and took Phoenix to OT two days ago.
I’ll lean Washington here.
PHI (4.5) at DEN (-4.5)
Pick: Bet $20 DEN
Total: 220.5 (Lean Over – 226)
Predicted Score: PHI 110 – DEN 116
Overview: Joel Embiid started conditioning again and should be ready to play again soon. But not tonight. Meaning the once MVP candidate won’t get to match up against another MVP candidate in Nikola Jokic. Without Embiid, the Sixers have held their own and have actually done quite fine on the road.
But then they played a good team and lost by double-digits.
The Nuggets are coming off a dominating performance over the Hawks two days ago that saw the debut of Aaron Gordon. He only scored 13 but he was 1 of 6 Denver players to score double digits. Denver is shooting 60% in EFG% the past few weeks while Philly’s is on a downward trend since being on their road trip.
This is the 5th game of that road trip and they wrap up on Thursday against Cleveland. I get the feeling they are already looking forward to getting home for 2 games before hitting their next 4-game road trip – with the hope that Embiid will join them on that one.
For tonight, I’m banking on Denver winning and covering. $20 bet on the Nuggets.
ATL (6.5) at PHX (-6.5)
Pick: Lean ATL
Total: 222.5 (Lean Under – 219)
Predicted Score: ATL 107 – PHX 112
Overview: The Suns return home after a 4-game road trip that was capped off with an OT win over the Hornets. Atlanta is ready to head home as they play their 6th straight road game but they still have 2 more road games to play after that.
The Hawks were on a hot streak but are now 2-3 over their road trip – as they face some tougher competition and not the sub .500 teams they were previously feasting on. Phoenix has won 4 of 5 and while they no longer look unstoppable, they are still winning games.
And I have them winning again tonight. Just not by enough to cover.
I will lean the Hawks here.
ORL (10.5) at LAC (-10.5)
Pick: Lean LAC
Total: 217.5 (Lean Under – 213)
Predicted Score: ORL 101 – LAC 112
Overview: The Clippers showed up and beat up on the Bucks last night. Which means a perfect time to take a night off and let the secondary unit take on the Magic. After a slew of trades and some injuries, Orlando’s starting squad isn’t even good enough to be the Clippers’ second unit.
That said – the Magic haven’t folded by any stretch. They beat Phoenix and kept it close with the Lakers. Even their 7-point loss to the Blazers was an ATS cover. So maybe Orlando has a shot of keeping it within 10 if both Paul George and Kawhi Leonard sit out – which is likely due to the back-to-back and a big game slated against Denver on Thursday.
Still, I just can’t afford to take flyers on hunches anymore. And I still have the Clippers mathematically covering – even without their stars in the lineup. So a lean on the Clippers.
Max’s Salty NHL Bets for 3/30/21
Washington Capitals (-106) at New York Rangers (-104)
Pick: Bet Washington
Notes: I have this as a close one but Washington is playing consistently good lately and the Rangers score in bunches but not always consistently.
New Jersey Devils (159) at Boston Bruins (-178)
Pick: Lean Boston
Notes: Devils blanked Boston 1-0 and the Bruins have not been looking themselves due to injuries. NJ has played pretty well lately.
Detroit Red Wings (190) at Florida Panthers (-235)
Pick: Lean Florida
Notes: Florida should get this win. They have not been dominating lately but should beat Detroit on the road. But that’s a little too much chalk for me against a dangerous Detroit team.
Columbus Blue Jackets (215) at Tampa Bay Lightning (-246)
Pick: Lean Columbus
Notes: Columbus is awful right now but I still think there are vulnerabilities for Tampa that makes them a risk to bet at this amount.
Edmonton Oilers (120) at Montreal Canadiens (-136)
Pick: Lean Montreal
Carolina Hurricanes (-150) at Chicago Blackhawks (136)
Pick: Lean Chicago
Dallas Stars (-120) at Nashville Predators (100)
Pick: Lean Dallas
Notes: Nashville is playing better lately and Dallas is in a bit of a slump.
