Max’s NBA Picks for 12/30/20

I went 4-4 in betting the NBA yesterday. Looking at today, quite a few games just got on the board as write this (due to teams playing yesterday) and with the ones that have been on the board, the only one I like is this one:

Atlanta at Brooklyn

NBA Picks for 12/30/20

Spread: BKN -7 (Bet $25 Atlanta)

Total: 238.5 (Lean Under)

Predicted Score: Hawks 115 – Nets 112

Overview: The Hawks offense is humming right now. They are 2nd in the league in points per game and offensive efficiency. Trae Young is playing at an MVP level but the offense looks much more balanced this year.

That said, the Brooklyn defense is ranked as one of the best in the association. They are #1 in defensive efficiency and #3 in opponents points per game. The Nets are coming off back-to-back losses and should get the win today – but I don’t hate a moneyline play for Atlanta if you were so inclined.

I’ll take the points though and bet the Hawks.

In case it helps, here are my predicted scores for the other games:

Celtics 114 – Grizzlies 112 (lean Grizzlies +9)

Bucks 122 – Heat 105 (lean Bucks -6)

Mavs 115 – Hornets 101 (lean Dallas -8)

Lakers 111 – Spurs 110 (lean Spurs +6)

Clippers 119 – Blazers 113 (lean Clippers -2)

Max’s NFL Week 17 DFS Picks

Well, I came in 3rd place in my standard league. After going 12-2 in the regular season and getting the #1 seed, I lost my first playoff game but bounced back this past week with some good performances by Aaron Rodgers, Amari Cooper, Adam Thielen, Nick Chubb and Travis Kelce.

My DFS tournaments did not bode as well. Backing the two Jalens did not work thanks to a better Dallas defense.

Week 17 is always a weird one for fantasy but let’s see if we can find some teams that are playing for something and back them here.

Stacks

I’ll go with Philip Rivers and T.Y. Hilton this week against the Jaguars. The Colts are playing for something and the Jaguars defense cannot stop the pass at all. Rivers did spread the ball out some last week – which took a hit to Hilton’s results. But I think he goes back to Hilton as a primary this week because he should be able to get space with the Jags’ secondary – leading to some huge chunks of passing yards per play.

Value

My value pick for the week is Amari Cooper (DAL). He’s having a pretty damn good year despite the QB issues in Dallas and he looked locked in last week. The Giants defense has looked tough at times this year, but has faded a bit the past few weeks. I expect Cooper to have a solid day and at a price that won’t break the bank.

Fades

One of my bigger fades this week is Tua Tagovailoa. With the playoffs possibly on the line and the specter of Fitzmagic behind him, I’m not sure if Tua will do his best this week. If he struggles, Fitz will get into the game. Sadly, if Fitz got the start, he’d be a top pick for me as Buffalo should take it light this week (despite some playoff seeding implications).

Defense

I can’t believe I am saying this but I like the Dallas defense this week against the Giants. New York’s offense has looked dreadful lately and the Cowboys have been forcing a lot of turnovers lately. Dallas should give up yards to Gallman but will make up for that with their pass defense.
