Max’s Notes:

Rangers at Blackhawks

The Rangers are coming off a loss at home against the Bruins on Sunday that broke a 4 game winning streak. The Blackhawks return home after going 1-4 on their recent road trip. The Rangers are on the fringes of a playoff spot and dealing with two issues: an injury to their star goalie Igor Shesterkin and the contract status of Chris Kreider who could be dealt before Monday’s trade deadline. He has 17 points in his last 17 games. The Blackhawks are a .500 team at home while the Rangers have had some recent road success. I like the Rangers here. I am a bit worried that public and money are on NY and line is getting better. Despite the trap I will bet the Rangers.

Coyotes at Stars

Arizona is playing on the front end of a back to back and head to Dallas to play a Stars team that is coming off a surprise loss to the Senators on Sunday. The Coyotes have won 2 in a row after Monday’s win over the Islanders. Coyotes goalie Antti Raanta has been playing well the past few weeks and he’s helped keep Arizona in the playoff picture. Dallas is 17-9-2 at home this season. Big trap game here. Money is all over Dallas and line is getting better. I’ll lean Arizona here.

Bruins at Oilers

Boston has won 4 of 5 with their lone loss that lazy showing on the road against the Red Wings. Edmonton has also won 4 of 5 and are coming off a good road trip against some tough teams. The Oilers have been without their captain – Connor McDavid – but NHL points leader – Leon Draisaitl – has scored 10 points in his last 4 games. Boston is 9-1-0 over their last 10 and have a better road record than Edmonton has a home record. Past my chalk threshold here but I like the Bruins here. I’ll lean Boston.

Islanders at Avalanche

Both teams will aim to avoid a 4 game losing streak. The Islanders lost their third in a row on Sunday in Arizona and the Avalanche lost their third straight on Monday against the league’s best team. Colorado is good at home but not dominant. The Islanders are struggling offensively and now have to face the best offense in the league. The Avalanche are dealing with a slew of injuries that could impact their playoff seeding down the final stretch of the season. It’s a bit high for me so I can only lean Colorado.

Panthers at Ducks

Florida is playing on the front end of a back to back and continue their California road trip in Anaheim today. The Ducks have given up 18 goals in their last 3 losses but if they can keep their opponents from scoring, they do seem to put up enough offense to win some games. Anaheim does have a winning home record. Barely. And Florida is 15-10-4 on the road but are only 3-6-1 over their last 10 games. I’ll lean the Panthers.

Wild at Canucks

Vancouver is dealing with some key injuries that forced them to make a move for Tyler Toffoli to stay competitive in the playoff picture. The Canucks are coming off a bad loss to the Ducks on Sunday and today they welcome a Wild team that just lost 3 of 4 at home and head on the road where they are a dreadful 10-15-2. Another weird and trappy line here but I like the odds of Vancouver turning it around and getting the win. I’ll bet the Canucks.
