Max’s Notes:

NHL

Hurricanes at Devils

Carolina continues their long road trip in NJ today, bringing with them a 3 game winning streak. The Devils are coming off a home loss against the Penguins but they are 6-3-1 over their last 10. There’s some value in the Devils but not enough to warrant a play by me.

Penguins at Blue Jackets

Columbus has 2 wins in their 5 games and both were against the Canucks. They are 3-4-3 over their last 10 but most of those have been road games. The Blue Jackets are 20-12-4 at home this season. The Penguins have struggled lately – particularly on the road. They are coming off a win over the Devils on Tuesday and should win this game. But with the money coming in on them and the line getting better, it seems like a trap to me.

Sabres at Canadiens

Buffalo got an upset win over the Capitals on Monday but they are just 3-7 over their last 10. They are fortunate to play a Canadiens team that is 14-17-6 at home this season. Montreal has lost 3 straight but the money likes them today. I’m going to fade the money and take a value bet on the Sabres.

Predators at Maple Leafs

Nashville has won 3 in a row but head to Toronto where the Maple Leafs are coming off a big win over the Lightning. Toronto is 18-9-7 at home this season – which is what they needed to break their little slump. No real data yet to see if this is a trap – but line is getting better for Toronto. I’ll lean them for now.

Flyers at Lightning

The Flyers got tested against one NHL elite team on Tuesday and couldn’t keep up. They get tested again and this might be even harder. Philly is only 16-15-3 on the road. Not as bad as NBA’s Philly team – but still not great. The Lightning are 22-10-2 at home but are only 3-6-1 over their last 10 games. Philly is 9-1 in that same stretch. Another trappish looking game as money is on Tampa and line getting better. I’ll lean the Lightning for now because Philly’s road woes but I would not be shocked if they won this game in OT or a shootout.

Red Wings at Capitals

Well, there was no value in the Red Wings at Hurricanes and no value here either. Washington has not been lights out recently but should get the win today.

Golden Knights at Wild

Vegas continues their road trip in Minnesota today and have won their last 2 games to improve their road record to 17-13-4. The Wild are a solid home team and are 7-3-0 over their last 10. Money is on Vegas and line is getting better for them. Wish the payout was bigger but I’ll still bet the Wild.

Panthers at Stars

Dallas has lost 6 in a row and their offense continues to be a major issue for them. They’ve used defense as their way to win all season and it’s catching up to them. Much like it did the Islanders. The Panthers are 18-12-4 on the road and are coming off a big road win over the Blues. Dallas will eventually win a game but there’s definitely value in Florida. I’ll bet the Panthers.

Islanders at Flames

The Islanders have lost 7 in a row and are now on the outside looking into the playoffs. They have a slumping Columbus team ahead of them but a dangerous Rangers team behind them. They Flames are a decent home team but are beatable. Money is hard on the Islanders to break their slump. I like them too here. Just can’t trust them. I’ll lean the Islanders.

Canucks at Coyotes

Weird one here. Public is hard on Arizona but money loves the Canucks. Neither team is lighting the world on fire. The Canucks are great at home but not so much on the road. I’ll still lean them here.
