November 13th NBA and NHL Degeneracy

Excerpts from Mad Max’s Notes:

NBA

Wizards at Celtics

I hate this one. Washington has been blown out in back to back games and the Celtics are coming off a 10 point win over Dallas. The line seems to be moving in the wrong direction too.

Grizzlies at Hornets

The Hornets have lost 3 in a row and have come back down to earth after a better than expected start. The Grizzlies are coming off a big win against the Spurs but are still.  A team that doesn’t have enough developed talent to be competitive.

Sixers at Magic

The Sixers barely got a win over Cleveland last night and now travel to Orlando to play a Magic team that has lost 4 of 5. It’ll be a chance for Markelle Fultz to play against the team that drafted him #1 overall. Fultz is averaging 10 points and 3 assists in limited play as a backup. Ben Simmons ended up playing last night in the Sixers win but that means he and probably Joel Embiid will sit out tonight’s game.

Clippers at Rockets

It’ll be interesting to see how the Clippers plan for this one. Rumor has it that Paul George will return tomorrow. So, in a back to back so they sit Kawhi tonight and have him play with PG tomorrow? Without Kawhi the Rockets should win this one. With Kawhi?

Spurs at Timberwolves

San Antonio has lost 4 of 5 and sits right now as a .500 team and face a T-Wolves team that has an opportunity to be really good. Karl Anthony Towns has been amazing but now Andrew Wiggins has started to play more to his potential. The T-Wolves are coming off a good win over the Pistons and look good as favorites tonight.

Warriors at Lakers

The Lakers got a big win in Phoenix last night and head back home with some injury concerns. Rondo made his debut last night but is not cleared for back to backs so he is out. And Anthony Davis has been battling shoulder soreness and also injured his ribs last night so it’s unclear if he will play. The good news for the Lakers is that Dwight Howard has looked good as a backup to Davis and Kyle Kuzma put on a good showing last night. The Warriors welcomed back Draymond Green on Monday and he was limited to 22 minutes.

Raptors at Blazers

The Blazers dropped another one last night and don’t seem anywhere close to team they were last season. The Raptors are coming off a 10 point loss to the Clippers on Monday giving them a split in their LA back-to-back. Lowry is still out and Serge Ibaka will miss a significant amount of time.

NHL

Maple Leafs at Islanders

Toronto has lost a couple of close ones recently and are a dangerous team. They put up a lot of shots and John Tavares knows a thing or two about the Islanders. Once a star player for New York, Tavares now has Toronto poised to make a Stanley Cup run. But the Islanders aren’t too bad themselves. Their defense has been stellar and their offense has started to pick up too.

Capitals at Flyers

Flyers have won 4 in a row. The Capitals are playing awesome hockey and lost a close one to Arizona. Hard to imagine them losing two in a row.

Stars at Flames

Dallas in the first game of a back to back. They were on a hot streak before getting cooled down by Winnipeg on Sunday. Calgary has been playing solid hockey lately too.

Blackhawks at Golden Knights

The Golden Knights haven’t been great lately. Chicago has actually been sharp. Might be a good value play here on the Blackhawks.

Senators at Devils

Value play is Ottawa. No way you bet the Devils at that amount. I’d lean the Senators here
