Max’s Sports Bet Picks for 1/27/22

Sports Bet Picks for 1/27/22

LAL (2.5) at PHI (-2.5)

Pick: Bet $10 PHI ML

Total: 219 (Lean Under – 218)

Predicted Score: LAL 107 – PHI 111

Notes: This one should be interesting because Ben Simmons … will remain out. But Anthony Davis could return for the Lakers.

That explains why the line is so close. But I think that’s some fools gold here. Davis won’t be pushed too hard if he’s returning and you know Joel Embiid won’t take it easy on him.

Philly has won two games in a row and while they are not that unbeatable team at home like they have been the past few seasons – something I feel like I’ve had to also say about other teams, such as Utah – they are still a good team when healthy.

This is the Lakers’ 4th straight road game as they continue their East Coast trip. The Lakers are coming off a win over the depleted Nets. That improved their road record to 9-12 on the season.

My guess is that Embiid shows up big in this one and gets a good win for Philly.

$10 moneyline bet on the Sixers.

MIN (6) at GSW (-6)

Pick: Bet $10 GSW ML

Total: 228 (Lean Under – 221)

Predicted Score: MIN 108 – GSW 113

Notes: The T-Wolves have won 4 of their last 5 games and sit a game above .500. To put this into perspective, they have a better record than the Lakers and Clippers and are only 2 games behind the Nuggets.

Golden State has bounced back well from an unexpected OT loss to the Pacers. They have now won 3 games in a row and looked unstoppable in their win over Dallas the other day.

They had 7 players score in double digits and the game was so out of hand that all of their starters played less than 30 minutes.

Draymond Green is still out for the Warriors but that Klay Thompson guy they added to the mix has been pretty good.

I like Golden State to get the win today. So a $10 moneyline bet on the Warriors.

Sports Bet Picks for 1/27/22

New Jersey Devils (255) at Tampa Bay Lightning (-330)

Pick: Bet $10 New Jersey +1.5 (110)

Notes: The Devils lost their last game by 4 goals. The Lightning won their last game by 6 goals. So I’d be a fool to bet the Devils to win this one.

But I think the implied probability is a lot closer than this line indicates. So if I could, say, get the Devils +1.5 goals and still get a plus line, maybe Iceberg would call me a chickenshit. But hopefully I can turn a profit.

New Jersey has lost 4 of 5 games. Their lone win was an upset over the Hurricanes. So it is possible they can sneak a win against a very good team.

Tampa has been on a tear lately – and they are well rested. So maybe they come out swinging. Or maybe they take the Devils lightly like they did back in November.

$10 bet on the Devils +1.5 goals.

Los Angeles Kings (120) at New York Islanders (-140)

Pick: Bet $10 Los Angeles

Notes: The Islanders have won 4 of their last 5 games. They seem like they have turned a corner and are trying to make up ground to make a playoff run.

It could be too little too late as they sit in 6th place and 19 points behind Washington in the Metropolitan Division. Still, it does seem like they are playing a similar style of hockey that made them tough to beat in recent seasons.

For Los Angeles, they have lost 4 of 5 games with their lone win over the Devils. This game will complete their NY/NJ trifecta of games. It’s also their third straight road game out here on the East Coast.

So maybe it is the Islanders game to lose. I just think this line is too big for them. Even with how they have been playing.

I’ll take the plus line on the Kings.

$10 bet on Los Angeles.

Anaheim Ducks (-130) at Montreal Canadiens (110)

Pick: Bet $10 Anaheim

Notes: Anaheim lost a close one yesterday to the Maple Leafs and turn back around to take on Montreal tonight.

The Canadiens return home after a long road trip. Their lone win the past 5 games was over Dallas. Their last game was an 8-2 laugher against the Wild.

Anaheim has been a weird team this season. They started off looking terrible, went on a tear for a while and then post-Covid break, they have been mediocre.

I think that’s pretty much what they are based on their advanced metrics. They have some solid offense but their defense neutralizes anything they do scoring-wise.

Still, I think the line on this one is too low. Maybe it’s a Vegas gift trap – but I’ll jump in.

$10 bet on Anaheim.

Vancouver Canucks (145) at Winnipeg Jets (-165)

Pick: Bet $10 Vancouver

Notes: Two teams mired in some losing streaks. For Vancouver, its “only” 3 games. For the Jets, its up to 5 and counting.

Winnipeg came home after a long road trip and laid an egg against the Panthers. Vancouver managed to keep things close against that same Panthers team and in general, when they lose, they’ve been close ones.

Vancouver has been getting some very good shots on goal this season. Their high danger shots are middle of the pack in the league yet their offensive output doesn’t seem to show that.

On the other side, they have actually had some good luck at stopping high danger shots from going in. So if things balance out for them, I cannot say they will be a much better team.

But I can say based on their advanced metrics, they should end up better than the Jets.

Which is kind of astounding, really. Winnipeg went into this season as a dark horse Cup winner but have not produced at all to those expectations.

With this big line, I just cannot see betting them today. On the other side, I like the value of Vancouver.

$10 bet on the Canucks.

Nashville Predators (105) at Edmonton Oilers (-125)

Pick: Bet $10 Nashville

Notes: Another disappointing Canadian team takes the ice today as the Oilers host the Predators. Edmonton has won 2 games in a row but I still cannot say they are playing good hockey.

The Predators continue to be a dangerous team. While Colorado’s hot streak has put some separation in the Central Division, Nashville remains glued to that second place spot.

I’d like to say this game is a step up in their recent competition. Beating Seattle, Detroit and Winnipeg is not all that impressive.

But Edmonton has played to that level lately. So I can see the Predators getting the win here.

$10 bet on Nashville.

New York Rangers (-215) at Columbus Blue Jackets (180)

Pick: Lean New York

Carolina Hurricanes (-265) at Ottawa Senators (210)

Pick: Lean Carolina

Seattle Kraken (265) at Pittsburgh Penguins (-340)

Pick: Lean Pittsburgh

Vegas Golden Knights (152) at Florida Panthers (-184)

Pick: Lean Florida

Calgary Flames (110) at St. Louis Blues (-130)

Pick: Lean Calgary
