MLB Playoffs

Sports Bet Picks for 10/15/21

BOS (126) at HOU (-137)

Pitchers: C. Sale (ERA: 4.24 – Road ERA: 7.61 – Avg. ML: -173) vs. F. Valdez (ERA: 3.35 – Home ERA: 3.8 – Avg. ML: -143)

Pick: $10 bet HOU

Notes: I didn’t give Boston much of a chance heading into this season. They proved me wrong. I didn’t give Boston much of a chance in their last series against the Rays. They proved me wrong. Now as they face off against a Houston team that can match their offense, has the pitching advantage and has homefield – I don’t give them much of a chance.

But they still have a chance.

Alex Cora was suspended last season for his role in the sign-stealing scandal from his time in Houston. Fired by the Red Sox and replaced with Ron Roenicke for a season. Hired back by the Soz. And now he’s got them once again knocking on the door to the World Series.

His familiarity with the Houston organization and some of those players will come in handy. But if I had to give my main reason that Boston has a chance here it’d be Dusty Baker.

Like seriously. Shit is bound to go wrong soon, right? Baker’s managing career has been beset with clusterfucks and something is bound to trip him up sooner than later.

As for today’s game, yeah, Houston probably nabs a win. It seems like Chris Sale might get the start today to face off against Framber Valdez. Sale has not looked good over his last few starts while Valdez has remained fairly consistent all season. His last two starts were a bit rocky, but he should bounce back.

Both teams have fairly similar stats through the playoffs so far so it really should be a fun series to watch. I have the Astros winning game 1 today. The line movement with the money hammering Houston worries be a little. But I’ll bet it anyway.

$10 bet on the Astros.

NHL

Sports Bet Picks for 10/15/21

Chicago Blackhawks (108) at New Jersey Devils (-119)

Pick: Bet $10 Chicago

Notes: Chicago lost their opener against the Avalanche as Colorado came out swinging in the first period. I don’t think they will see the barrage of offense coming from the Devils. Marc-Andre Fleury should have an easier night and with a plus line right now, Chicago is the play.

$10 bet on the Blackhawks.

Vancouver Canucks (137) at Philadelphia Flyers (-152)

Pick: Lean Philadelphia

Notes: Both teams making their season debut. The Flyers look to bounce back after a lackluster season. The Flyers were a contender just two seasons ago so its not crazy to think they can be a playoff team this year. Not sure the same can be said about Vancouver who is probably looking at another bad year.

A little too much chalk on Philly here so just a lean on the Flyers.

Minnesota Wild (-156) at Anaheim Ducks (140)

Pick: Lean Minnesota

Notes: I am looking forward to the Wild this season. I am hoping they can bring the same consistency they had last season at home to a stretch of road games this year. They start off on the road against a Ducks team that had a shocking win in game 1.

I like the Wild to nab their season opener here but it’s a bit too chalky for a team I don’t fully trust on the road yet. A lean on Minnesota.
