Max’s Sports Bet Picks for 10/22/21
BOS (122) at HOU (-132)
Pitchers: N. Eovaldi (ERA: 3.79 – Road ERA: 4.39 – Avg. ML: -123) vs. L. Garcia (ERA: 3.93 – Home ERA: 2.95 – Avg. ML: -135)
Pick: Bet $10 HOU
Notes: The Astros’ chances looked bleak 3 games into this series. They were down 2-1 in the series and Boston beat them badly in consecutive games. Now it’s the Astros in control and able to eliminate Boston tonight.
Houston has looked trashcan banging good the past few games and maybe it’s their whistling that’s helping them stay calm and hit the ball so damn well. Now whether they are stealing signs again or not, their pitching has shut down Boston’s bats the past two games and that’s an even bigger reason that Houston is knocking on the World Series door.
Eovaldi and Garcia both had decent seasons but have not found success in these playoffs. The money is hitting Boston here but I am going to fade that and bet $10 on Houston to close this out tonight.
UTA (-6) at SAC (6)
Pick: Bet $10 SAC
Total: 226.5 (Lean Under – 220)
Predicted Score: UTA 110 – SAC 110
Notes: The Jazz absolutely routed the Thunder a few days back and now they hit the road to Sacramento to face a Kings team that, I believe, is better than OKC. They took it to Portland the other day with Harrison Barnes and De’Aaron Fox looking very good on the floor together.
I have this as a fairly close game so with the Kings, at home, getting these points, I’ll bet $10 on them.
NYK (-7) at ORL (7)
Pick: Bet $10 NYK
Total: 211 (Lean Over – 220)
Predicted Score: NYK 116 – ORL 104
Notes: It’s been well documented on this show that I am very impressed with the Knicks and the job Thibs has done to turn this thing around. The Knicks had an awesome first game against the Celtics and now they face some lesser competition with the Magic.
Orlando might be vying for the first pick in the draft and their embarrassing game 1 loss to the Spurs could be indicative of the misery the Magic will deal with this year.
It’s a lot of points for a team on the road. But I have the Knicks covering.
$10 bet on New York.
PHX (1) at LAL (-1)
Pick: Lean PHX
Total: 220 (Bet $10 Over – 231)
Predicted Score: PHX 115 – LAL 116
Notes: One of the games of the night here. Vegas has this as a 1-point game. I have this has a 1-point game. So this could be a fun one for sure.
What I want to look at is the total. Both teams can play defense. But both teams can also put up some points when they need to. The Lakers tried to match the Warriors’ offense in game 1 and if the Suns are hitting 3’s, they will need to do the same tonight.
So my bet here is $10 on the over. I think these teams will go at this first game as a playoff caliber match-up to assess where they are at in the West.
BKN (-1) at PHI (1)
Pick: Bet $10 PHI
Total: 230 (Lean Under – 223)
Predicted Score: BKN 109 – PHI 114
Notes: The drama in Philly is not going away any time soon. Daryl Morey essentially said, “Buckle in” and that Philly will not be pressured into trading Simmons. For the Sixers, that means moving on without him and when they can trade him, they could get an impact player for a playoff push.
Brooklyn is dealing with their own drama as well. And it almost seems obvious for these teams to trade star players and call it a day.
The Nets lost their season opener and its hard to fathom them dropping 2 in a row to start the year. But I think that’s what does happen. The Sixers are really tough to beat at home and with a motivated, and healthy, Embiid – they are even tougher.
$10 bet on the Sixers.
CHA (-2.5) at CLE (2.5)
Pick: Lean CHA
Total: 225.5 (Lean Under – 224)
Predicted Score: CHA 114 – CLE 110
IND (2.5) at WAS (-2.5)
Pick: Lean WAS
Total: 228 (Lean Over – 232)
Predicted Score: IND 114 – WAS 118
OKC (1.5) at HOU (-1.5)
Pick: Lean HOU
Total: 223 (Lean Over – 232)
Predicted Score: OKC 112 – HOU 120
SAS (7) at DEN (-7)
Pick: Lean SAS
Total: 220 (Lean Over – 225)
Predicted Score: SAS 109 – DEN 116
TOR (6.5) at BOS (-6.5)
Pick: Lean TOR
Total: 218 (Lean Over – 231)
Predicted Score: TOR 114 – BOS 117
NOP (7) at CHI (-7)
Pick: Lean NOP
Total: 221 (Lean Under – 221)
Predicted Score: NOP 107 – CHI 114
Boston Bruins (-202) at Buffalo Sabres (179)
Pick: Bet $10 Boston
Notes: Don’t look now but the Sabres are 3-0 to start the year. I might be mistaken but that could have matched their win total from all of last year. No granted, they beat a Carey Price-less Montreal team, the Coyotes and the Canucks. So not great competition. But still, teams I had ranked higher than Buffalo.
The Bruins come into town and they are, once again, a favorite for the Cup. Boston is 1-1 after suffering a bad loss to Philly as rookie Jeremy Swayman did not look comfortable in that game. Former Sabres goalie Linus Ullmark should get the start in goal for Boston tonight and that gives me a little more confidence to bet Boston here.
$10 bet on the Bruins.
San Jose Sharks (206) at Toronto Maple Leafs (-235)
Pick: Lean Toronto
Los Angeles Kings (134) at Dallas Stars (-149)
Pick: Lean Dallas
Edmonton Oilers (124) at Vegas Golden Knights (-138)
Pick: Lean Vegas
Notes: Public and money all over Edmonton and the line is moving in that way.
