Max’s Sports Bet Picks for 2/21/22
NHL
Carolina Hurricanes (-205) at Philadelphia Flyers (175)
Pick: Bet $10 Carolina
Notes: Carolina got a nice win over the Penguins yesterday and you have to wonder if they will have anything left in the tank today.
Thankfully for them, they are heading to Philly to take on a pretty bad Flyers team.
Philly has lost 4 games in row and is 8-12-4 at home this season.
The Flyers rank 28th in goals for per game and 25th in goals against.
They are middle of the pack in both shots on goal and high danger shots.
Carolina had Raanta in goal yesterday so you’d expect them to put Frederik Andersen out there tonight.
So despite the back-to-back, I expect Carolina to come out and get the win today.
$10 bet on the Hurricanes.
Seattle Kraken (140) at Vancouver Canucks (-160)
Pick: Bet $10 Seattle
Notes: Seattle has lost 4 of their last 5 games and find themselves in game 3 of their Canadian road trip.
The Canucks are coming off a blowout loss by the Ducks on Saturday.
Seattle was able to hang with the Flames on Saturday – mostly because they actually had good goaltending.
Which is something they have rarely seen all season.
But looking at their advanced metrics, this is a team that has the potential to right the ship when it comes to giving up goals.
Seattle has a massive divide between their expected goals against and actual goals against.
Its indicative of the fact that they have given up goals that normally should not have gone in.
So again, there’s potential for that to correct itself.
Or it could just be stark reality that their goaltending sucks so much that anyone can score on them from anywhere on the ice.
The Canucks should play some tighter defense today than they did on Saturday but still, I think the value is on Seattle here.
I’ve resisted betting on the Kraken in a while and I’ll probably not bet them again for a while after today.
$10 bet on the Seattle.
Colorado Avalanche (-170) at Boston Bruins (142)
Pick: Lean Colorado
Notes: Bruins are returning home after a road trip and get to host the Avalanche.
Lucky them, right?
Winnipeg Jets (185) at Calgary Flames (-220)
Pick: Lean Calgary
Notes: Calgary has won 9 games in a row and is one of the hotter teams in the NHL right now.
Winnipeg has played better as of late but they are overmatched in this one for sure
Toronto Maple Leafs (-350) at Montreal Canadiens (285)
Pick: Lean Toronto
Notes: I have the implied probability to bet Toronto in this one. And I doubt Montreal can win 3 games in a row – including a back-to-back.
