Max’s Sports Bet Picks for 2/7/22
TOR (-1.5) at CHA (1.5)
Pick: Bet $10 TOR ML
Total: 225 (Lean Under – 220)
Predicted Score: TOR 113 – CHA 107
Notes: At some point, Charlotte’s losing streak will end. It should coincide with when their shooting improves closer to their season average.
A month ago, they were the 3rd best shooting team in the league. They are currently ranked 9th. Over the past week, they have been the 4th worst shooting team.
As for Toronto, they are riding a 5-game winning streak. These teams have only played once before this season and Toronto got the best of the Hornets.
It’s hard not to like this Raptors team and how they play basketball. Pascal Siakim and Fred VanVleet are one of the more dynamic 1-2 punches in the league.
When they play at the top of their game, you can see the potential this team has.
They aren’t quite championship level – but if this team gets hot, like they are now, most teams should be afraid to play them.
I like the Raptors here to get the road win.
$10 moneyline bet on Toronto.
MIA (-5.5) at WAS (5.5)
Pick: Bet $10 MIA ML
Total: 209.5 (Lean Under – 208)
Predicted Score: MIA 108 – WAS 100
Notes: I’ve bet against the Wizards a few times this past week. I’ve won some. I’ve lost some. And that goes to Panther’s point on the Sunday show.
There are teams that are consistently winning. Teams that are consistently losing. And then teams like the fucking Wizards that make you cry into the torn-up betting slips in your hands.
Or, you know, the electronic betting slip on your Android or iOS device.
Either way, the Wizards can make you cry for sure.
As for Miami, when they are healthy, they are one of the top teams in the East. In fact, they are literally the top team by a half game right now.
This is the Heat’s 5th road game in a row. They lost their first two and have won their last two. I have a feeling they break that tie today with a win.
And then I’ll wish them luck on their road trip finale on Thursday against the Pelicans.
$10 moneyline bet on the Heat.
PHX (-6) at CHI (6)
Pick: Lean CHI
Total: 228 (Lean Under – 223)
Predicted Score: PHX 112 – CHI 111
GSW (-12) at OKC (12)
Pick: Lean OKC
Total: 212.5 (Lean Over – 220)
Predicted Score: GSW 112 – OKC 108
NYK (7) at UTA (-7)
Pick: Lean NYK
Total: 214.5 (Lean Over – 216)
Predicted Score: NYK 106 – UTA 110
New Jersey Devils (110) at Ottawa Senators (-135)
Pick: Bet $10 New Jersey
Notes: The Devils await the return of Dougie Hamilton but now have to deal with the loss of Jack Hughes. Heading into the All Star break, they had lost 6 games in row and 9 of 10 games.
So losing Hughes to Covid protocols was not what they needed right now. But playing Ottawa is a winnable game for New Jersey.
The Senators, technically, are a worse team than the Devils are if you look at win/loss.
Their strength of schedule has been tougher than New Jersey’s so maybe they are better if they played New Jersey’s schedule.
Ottawa is capable of beating New Jersey but with the plus line, the value is on the Devils here.
$10 bet on New Jersey.
Carolina Hurricanes (115) at Toronto Maple Leafs (-135)
Pick: Bet $10 Toronto
Notes: Great matchup between two of the top teams in the league. Toronto is one of my favorites to win the Cup this year and their red-hot play heading into the break is a reason why.
The Maple Leafs still could find themselves in a lower seed based on having Tampa and Florida in their division.
But maybe the lower seed expectations will benefit them by casting them as an underdog.
The Hurricanes are the top of the Metropolitan division right now but the Rangers are nipping at their heels.
Going into the break, Carolina won 4 games. So both teams are playing some winning hockey right now.
Carolina has been pretty good on the road this season. But beating the Maple Leafs in Toronto is a tough ask. I can understand if someone jumped on the Hurricanes with the plus line here.
But I’m on the other side.
$10 bet on Toronto.
