Max’s Sports Bet Picks for 4/14/22

Sports Bet Picks for 4/14/22

STL (128) at MIL (-152)

Pick: Bet $10 STL

Notes: The Brewers managed to get a few wins over the Orioles to improve to .500 before heading home today for their home opener.

They will face off against division rivals as Nolan Arenado and the Cardinals head to town.

I mentioned Arenado’s stats on the show yesterday and while yes, he will cool off at some point, his offense has set the tone for this team so far.

Adam Wainwright was slated to start yesterday but the 40-year old will instead start today.

He’ll take on Brandon Woodruff – who got shelled in his first game.

Neither team has really been tested so far this season but the Cardinals have managed to handle their lesser competition while the Brewers have struggled.

Will they show up today for their home crowd?

I think not.

$10 bet on the Cardinals.

TOR (112) at NYY (-132)

Pick: Bet $10 NYY

Notes: I’ve flipflopped each game of this series. So why stop that streak now?

The Blue Jays’ offense was thumping yesterday on their way to a 6-4 win.

Now they’ll see if they can close out the series with another win today.

Kevin Gausman will get the start today and he was so-so in his first start of the season.

At least he went 5 innings. The same cannot be said for Luis Severino who only went 3.

Both teams will travel after this one – with the Yankees making a short trip to Baltimore and Toronto making the short trip home.

So I don’t think there is anything to consider with that.

It’s hard to argue that Toronto with a plus line is a good play – but I’ll argue it anyway.

The Yankees match up well against the Blue Jays and with the home field advantage, I like them to hold the fort today.

$10 bet on the Yankees.

LAA (-146) at TEX (124)

Pick: Bet $10 LAA

Notes: Both teams were off yesterday after 2-game series wrapped up on Tuesday.

The Angels swept their series over the Marlins and the Rangers got swept by the Rockies.

The Angels will hit the road for the first time this season with hopes that their offense will be better than it was in Anaheim.

They’ll put their ace on the mound as Shohei Ohtani will get the nod today.

Shohei was pretty good in his season opener but will look to improve by going longer into the game.

He will face off against the hittable Dane Dunning.

If hitting against him doesn’t provide a catalyst for this Angels’ offense then maybe Joe Maddon needs to bring some fucking zoo animals into the locker room to inspire them.

$10 bet on the Angels.

OAK (168) at TB (-200)

Pick: Lean TB

SEA (-106) at CWS (-110)

Pick: Lean CWS

WSH (110) at PIT (-130)

Pick: Lean PIT

PHI (-102) at MIA (-116)

Pick: Lean MIA

ATL (-104) at SD (-112)

Pick: Lean ATL

DET (106) at KC (-124)

Pick: Lean KC

CHC (108) at COL (-126)

Pick: Lean CHC

CIN (235) at LAD (-290)

Pick: Lean LAD

St. Louis Blues (-215) at Buffalo Sabres (176)

Pick: Bet $10 Buffalo

Notes: The Sabres return home after a 4-game road trip that saw them upset the Maple Leafs.

Shocker, right? Whenever there is a big upset the Maple Leafs seem to be involved.

Buffalo had to get through a murder’s row of teams recently. Can St. Louis be considered among those?

Well, they are winners of 8 of 9 games so maybe they are gearing up for that Stanley Cup run we talked about at the break.

The Blues have found some success on the road this year and took out the Bruins in Boston two days ago.

Still, I think the Sabres could trip them up here as they look ahead to a game against the Wild on Saturday.

I have St. Louis winning this one but the implied probability is a bit closer than this line indicates.

It’s a flyer here for sure.

$10 bet on the Sabres.

New York Islanders (140) at Pittsburgh Penguins (-170)

Pick: Bet $10 Pittsburgh

Notes: Well, I missed the first go around so let’s try not to make it two in a row.

The Islanders took down the Penguins with a shooutout win just 2 days ago but now we move from New York over to Pittsburgh.

The Penguins are 20-12-5 at home this season but are only 2-3 over their last 5 home games.

Still, a good stretch of games was without Sidney Crosby out there.

The Kid has 2 assists in the last game but was held off the scoreboard goal wise.

Still, a lot of the offense stems from him creating shot opportunities for other players. Between him and Kris Letang, the puck moves around and helps to find the best available shot on goal.

It’s one of the reasons that the Penguins are a top 10 team in high danger shots on goal, 4th in high danger shots that lead to goals and 8th in high danger goal %.

I think the Penguins can get those high danger shots to fall on Varlamov today.

$10 bet on Pittsburgh.

Ottawa Senators (245) at Boston Bruins (-310)

Pick: Lean Boston

Anaheim Ducks (330) at Tampa Bay Lightning (-430)

Pick: Lean Anaheim

Detroit Red Wings (310) at Carolina Hurricanes (-400)

Pick: Lean Carolina

Washington Capitals (140) at Toronto Maple Leafs (-170)

Pick: Lean Toronto

Minnesota Wild (-120) at Dallas Stars (100)

Pick: Lean Dallas

Edmonton Oilers (-108) at Nashville Predators (-111)

Pick: Lean Edmonton

San Jose Sharks (-122) at Chicago Blackhawks (102)

Pick: Lean San Jose

New Jersey Devils (255) at Colorado Avalanche (-320)

Pick: Lean New Jersey

Vegas Golden Knights (136) at Calgary Flames (-164)

Pick: Lean Calgary

Arizona Coyotes (250) at Vancouver Canucks (-320)

Pick: Lean Vancouver
