Max’s Sports Bet Picks for 4/16/22
ATL (-112) at SD (-104)
Pick: Bet $10 SD
Notes: It’s the chasing waterfalls edition of Max’s Saturday Sports bets. Featuring 3 games I missed on yesterday that I’ll be chasing today.
First up is the Atlanta Braves and San Diego Padres.
This was a close game yesterday for the most part before Atlanta pulled away late.
Ian Anderson will take the mound today and he’s coming off a terrible first start of the season.
He’ll face off against Nick Martinez – who looked solid in his first outing.
I don’t think the Padres will get swept in this series so this seems like a winnable game. If not, there’s always tomorrow.
That’s gambler’s fallacy 101.
$10 bet on the Padres.
MIN (108) at BOS (-126)
Pick: Bet $10 BOS
Notes: Next up is the Boston Red Sox.
I started believing in their offense so their pitching decided to shit the bed yesterday.
Tanner Houck will take the mound for the Red Sox so their pitching situation won’t improve today.
The Twins will put one of their offseason acquisitions on the mound today as Sonny Gray will get the start.
Minnesota’s offense has not been great this season and came out big yesterday.
I expect them to be quiet today.
$10 bet on the Red Sox.
SF (-104) at CLE (-112)
Pick: Bet $10 CLE
Notes: Last up here is the Guardians.
Cal Quantrill will take on Anthony DeSclafani.
DeSclafani was pretty good last season but didn’t have the best of starts to this season.
Quantrill faired a bit better in his opening but still not a lights-out pitcher.
The Cleveland offense came down to Earth a bit against some solid pitching. They should be able to doa little more today but more than likely not the double-digits they had in previous series.
Still, I think they grab a win in this series and today is the day. Or tomorrow.
$10 bet on Cleveland.
ARI (140) at NYM (-166)
Pick: Lean NYM
TB (120) at CWS (-142)
Pick: Lean TB
OAK (194) at TOR (-235)
Pick: Lean TOR
DET (106) at KC (-124)
Pick: Lean DET
PHI (102) at MIA (-120)
Pick: Lean MIA
WSH (100) at PIT (-118)
Pick: Lean PIT
NYY (-186) at BAL (156)
Pick: Lean BAL
LAA (-118) at TEX (100)
Pick: Lean TEX
STL (102) at MIL (-120)
Pick: Lean MIL
CHC (112) at COL (-132)
Pick: Lean COL
HOU (-154) at SEA (130)
Pick: Lean SEA
CIN (190) at LAD (-230)
Pick: Lean LAD
TOR (4) at PHI (-4)
Pick: Bet $10 PHI ML
Total: 216 (Lean Over – 224)
Predicted Score: TOR 109 – PHI 115
Notes: MVP runner up / scoring champion Joel Embiid will take the court with his partner in crime – former MVP and former scoring champion Jimmy James Harden.
This will be their first playoff series together so Embiid will get to see what he got himself into with playoff Harden.
The stubborn Raptors won’t be an easy out. Granted, they don’t have Kawhi there to rip the heart out of Philly fans – but maybe VanVleet or Siakim will take on that roll.
I give Toronto a puncher’s chance in this series but I think the Sixers take game 1.
$10 moneyline bet on Philadelphia.
UTA (-4.5) at DAL (4.5)
Pick: Lean DAL
Total: 209 (Lean Under – 222)
Predicted Score: UTA 113 – DAL 109
MIN (6.5) at MEM (-6.5)
Pick: Lean MIN
Total: 236 (Lean Over – 252)
Predicted Score: MIN 127 – MEM 125
DEN (6.5) at GSW (-6.5)
Pick: Lean DEN
Total: 223.5 (Lean Over – 235)
Predicted Score: DEN 116 – GSW 119
Pittsburgh Penguins (110) at Boston Bruins (-132)
Pick: Bet $10 Boston
Notes: The Bruins look to break a 3-game losing skid after losing consecutive home games this week.
Boston has not played well lately but is 22-13-2 at home this year.
Pittsburgh has been a damn good road team and I got a solid win with Sid and them the other day over the Islanders.
But I am going to back Boston in this one.
$10 bet on the Bruins.
Minnesota Wild (-104) at St. Louis Blues (-115)
Pick: Bet $10 Minnesota
Notes: The Blues have won 7 in a row and are in a tie with the Wild for second in the Central.
All good things must come to an end so my prediction is that the Wild end that winning streak today.
The Blues are 25-9-4 at home this season – so it won’t be easy.
But Minnesota has played well lately themselves – including some good road wins.
I wish I had the plus line but such is life. The Wild still win.
$10 bet on Minnesota.
New Jersey Devils (100) at Seattle Kraken (-120)
Pick: Bet $10 New Jersey
Notes: The Devils continue their road trip in Seattle today where I think they can grab a win.
Nico Daws will be in goal tonight and he’s won his last 2 games and has looked very good over his last 3.
He gives the Devils the best chance to win and when he plays, I try to jump on them.
Seattle is just 12-21-3 at home this season and are losers of 3 of their last 5.
They will look to put their inaugural season behind them and try to build for the future. So I don’t see a reason for them to even try to get any more wins.
$10 bet on New Jersey.
Detroit Red Wings (330) at New York Rangers (-430)
Pick: Lean New York
Chicago Blackhawks (235) at Nashville Predators (-295)
Pick: Lean Nashville
Vegas Golden Knights (100) at Edmonton Oilers (-120)
Pick: Lean Edmonton
Toronto Maple Leafs (-295) at Ottawa Senators (235)
Pick: Lean Toronto
Philadelphia Flyers (118) at Buffalo Sabres (-142)
Pick: Lean Buffalo
Washington Capitals (-275) at Montreal Canadiens (220)
Pick: Lean Washington
Winnipeg Jets (198) at Tampa Bay Lightning (-245)
Pick: Lean Tampa Bay
San Jose Sharks (180) at Dallas Stars (-220)
Pick: Lean Dallas
Carolina Hurricanes (114) at Colorado Avalanche (-137)
Pick: Lean Colorado
Arizona Coyotes (400) at Calgary Flames (-550)
Pick: Lean Calgary
Columbus Blue Jackets (164) at Los Angeles Kings (-200)
Pick: Lean Los Angeles
