Max’s Sports Bet Picks for 4/18/22

Sports Bet Picks for 4/18/22

PIT (150) at MIL (-178)

Pick: Bet $10 PIT

Notes: We are a few weeks into this MLB season and the Pirates are a half game out of first place in the NL Central while the Brewers find themselves in 4th place.

It’s a bit dramatic me saying it that way – considering we are only talking about a 10-game sample pool.

But it still doesn’t make it any less true.

Milwaukee has struggled out of the gate and a lot of that has to do with their hitting.

The Pirates, on the other hand, have shown that maybe they are a bit better than the truly shitty teams in this league.

I expect in a few weeks the spots in the standings will be flipflopped. And if not, then heads will roll in Wisconsin.

For this game though, the value is squarely on the Pirates to keep their offense going against “definitely not the staff ace of the Brewers” Eric Lauer.

$10 bet on Pittsburgh.

LAA (138) at HOU (-164)

Pick: Bet $10 HOU

Notes: The Astros finally have their home opener as they spent the first 9 games of the season on the road.

Anaheim continues their road trip after winning 3 in a row from the Rangers.

Based on a small sample this season, it could be a pretty good pitching matchup.

Both Lorenzen and Garcia looked fairly good in their previous starts.

The Angels’ bats have looked good so far but it could be we saw a boost against the terrible Texas pitching.

Houston has looked far from trashcan banging but that could change now they are home.

It’s a bit chalky but I think Houston holds the fort today and gets their home opener.

$10 bet on the Astros.

MIN (122) at BOS (-144)

Pick: Lean BOS

CWS (-104) at CLE (-112)

Pick: Lean CWS

ARI (120) at WSH (-142)

Pick: Lean WSH

SF (108) at NYM (-126)

Pick: Lean NYM

TB (-154) at CHC (130)

Pick: Lean CHC

PHI (-162) at COL (136)

Pick: Lean PHI

BAL (158) at OAK (-188)

Pick: Lean BAL

CIN (148) at SD (-176)

Pick: Lean SD

ATL (166) at LAD (-198)

Pick: Lean LAD

DEN (7) at GSW (-7)

Pick: Bet $10 GSW ML

Total: 224.5 (Lean Over – 234)

Predicted Score: DEN 112 – GSW 122

Notes: The real Warriors came out to play in game 1 and Denver did not have a chance.

What does game 2 have in store?

More of the same.

When Steph is healthy and is playing, this team is incredibly tough to beat.

Even without him for a huge chunk of the season, without Klay early in the year and without Draymond for a long stretch, this team was 31-10 at home this year.

Denver has the possible MVP but not a ton else after that. Michael Porter Jr. has not ruled out a return in this series but he’s not Paul Piercing his way through the door in this game.

$10 moneyline bet on the Warriors.

TOR (8.5) at PHI (-8.5)

Pick: Lean PHI

Total: 216 (Lean Over – 231)

Predicted Score: TOR 110 – PHI 121

UTA (-6) at DAL (6)

Pick: Lean DAL

Total: 205.5 (Lean Over – 212)

Predicted Score: UTA 106 – DAL 106

New Jersey Devils (255) at Vegas Golden Knights (-320)

Pick: Bet $10 New Jersey

Notes: I bet on the Devils every so often and while my win percentage on them is not high, I am profitable betting them this season.

Mostly because I sometimes get them at big plus lines, like this, and hit on them.

This could be one of those days.

I have Vegas winning this game, but much close than this line shows.

Nico Daws will be in goal once again for NJ. And while he did end up losing to Seattle last time out – trust me, I know – I still like him when he’s minding the net.

Vegas is coming home from a roadtrip and they are only 3-2 at home following a road trip of 3 or more games this season.

And in general, they have not been a dominant home team – posting a 21-14-3 record.

The value is on New Jersey here.

$10 bet on the Devils.

Calgary Flames (-330) at Chicago Blackhawks (260)

Pick: Lean Calgary

Washington Capitals (176) at Colorado Avalanche (-215)

Pick: Lean Colorado

Carolina Hurricanes (-375) at Arizona Coyotes (290)

Pick: Lean Carolina

Ottawa Senators (100) at Seattle Kraken (-120)

Pick: Lean Ottawa

Dallas Stars (-120) at Vancouver Canucks (100)

Pick: Lean Dallas
