Max’s Sports Bet Picks for 4/20/22

Sports Bet Picks for 4/20/22

PHI (-120) at COL (102)

Pick: Bet $10 PHI

Notes: The Phillies won’t get swept in Colorado. Right?

The Rockies continued their surprise good start to this season by beating Philly yesterday to improve to 8-3 on the season.

The Phillies sit at 4-8 – with a dreadful 1-5 road record.

Kyle Schwarber is batting .159 and Bryce Harper is batting .222 to start the year.

Not quite the offense they hoped for in Philly.

Zach Eflin will get the start for the Phillies today and he’s been decent so far this year but nothing special.

He’ll need to be better than he has been against this Rockies team in Colorado. Their offseason acquisition, Kris Bryant, is certainly bringing the offense so far.

I do expect Eflin to settle in a bit today and that Phillies offense showed some glimmer of hope yesterday.

I think they get the win today.

$10 bet on the Phillies.

ATL (118) at LAD (-138)

Pick: Bet $10 ATL

Notes: It was a funny sight watching Kenley Jansen getting Freddie Freeman out in last night’s game. Last season, that would have meant a Dodgers win but last night, it meant a Dodgers loss.

Will they lose 2 in a row to the Braves and lose the rubber match in this series?

I have them barely edging out a win today so the value is on the Braves with the plus line.

Charlie Morton has certainly not looked great this season but he tends to get better as a season goes on.

Tony Gonsolin will get the nod for the Dodgers and control issues have pestered him early in this year.

I already spoke about Jansen for the Braves but its Freeman’s replacement, Matt Olson, who is igniting this Braves’ offense.

I think he continues his production today and chases Gonsolin early. That will put the Braves in a good spot to steal this one.

$10 bet on the Braves.

TOR (-138) at BOS (118)

Pick: Bet $10 BOS

Notes: The Red Sox took yesterday’s game and I am looking for them to win another today.

Jose Berrios is a shell of his former self and makes Nick Pivetta look like a goddamn ace out there.

Offensively, Toronto has produced better than Boston this season – but we know the Red Sox offense can pick things up.

Looking at each team’s best offensive players, there is no surprise that Vlad Jr. leads in homeruns, RBI and batting average.

For Boston, there is a bit of a surprise to see Alex Verdugo as the leader in all three categories for them.

Pitching was the key yesterday for Boston’s win and I think it’s smart to try not to outslug Toronto.

I expect a bit more offense – based on today’s starters – but I like Boston to keep this close and get the win.

$10 bet on Boston.

PIT (205) at MIL (-250)

Pick: Lean PIT

MIN (-134) at KC (114)

Pick: Lean KC

BAL (116) at OAK (-134)

Pick: Lean BAL

TEX (132) at SEA (-156)

Pick: Lean SEA

PHI (-3) at TOR (3)

Pick: Bet $10 TOR ML

Total: 216.5 (Lean Over – 233)

Predicted Score: PHI 118 – TOR 115

Notes: Through two games, it certainly looks like Philly will coast to a first round series win. But the series shifts to Toronto now where the Raptors’ fans provide a big boost for this team.

The Raptors were not a very good team earlier in the season but picked things up – including going 7-1 at home to close out the regular season.

One of those wins was over the Sixers – who were without Thybule then and will be without him again.

The focus in the last game was the conversations between Embiid and Nick Nurse.

Will they continue that lovefest today?

I expect the officials to be a bit more lenient on the home team Raptors today and that Toronto pulls out the game 3 win.

$10 moneyline bet on the Raptors.

BKN (3) at BOS (-3)

Pick: Lean BKN

Total: 226 (Lean Over – 228)

Predicted Score: BKN 114 – BOS 114

CHI (10) at MIL (-10)

Pick: Lean CHI

Total: 225 (Lean Under – 219)

Predicted Score: CHI 106 – MIL 113

Dallas Stars (138) at Edmonton Oilers (-166)

Pick: Bet $10 Edmonton

Notes: It’s getting a bit harder to bet the NHL right now. I hit on my chalky special yesterday with Florida but that even made me sweat.

So eyeing up Edmonton with a big minus line has me a bit nervous.

But it’s the only play I like today.

Edmonton has won 2 in a row and improved their home record to 24-12-1.

Dallas is a decent enough road team but are coming off a blowout loss to the Canucks in Vancouver from 2 days ago.

Dallas has beaten Edmonton in their 2 prior matchups this season – but I expect the Oilers to avoid the sweep.

$10 bet on Edmonton.

Washington Capitals (118) at Vegas Golden Knights (-142)

Pick: Lean Vegas

Colorado Avalanche (-350) at Seattle Kraken (275)

Pick: Lean Colorado

Chicago Blackhawks (-160) at Arizona Coyotes (132)

Pick: Lean Chicago
