Max’s Sports Bet Picks for 4/21/22
MLB
BAL (116) at OAK (-132)
Pick: Bet $10 OAK
Notes: The A’s lost a close one yesterday but will look to close out their series with the Orioles today while walking away with 3 wins.
Oakland will stay home and host the Rangers tomorrow. So that gives them a slight edge of avoiding any travel.
Baltimore will take a short flight to Anaheim for their next series. So not a ton of travel, but still some.
Looking at starters, the A’s definitely have the edge.
Tyler Wells has got hit hard so far this year while Paul Blackburn has had two very solid outings.
The A’s also bring some power to the table. Despite selling off one of their best offensive players in the offseason, Oakland is still top 10 in homeruns.
Baltimore is dead last there.
The A’s should be able to tee off for a few today and grab the win.
$10 bet on Oakland.
ARI (116) at WSH (-136)
Pick: Bet $10 WSH
Notes: The D-Backs put up 11 runs yesterday and you have to wonder if that’ll be their offensive output for the rest of the month.
A few of those runs came off a pair of errors – but still, Washington’s starter, Erick Fedde, got chased in the third.
That lead to a taxed bullpen for the Nats yesterday.
Which is bad news considering their starter today, Josh Rogers, doesn’t go too far into games.
The good news is that they won’t have to travel after this one while Arizona will fly back home to host the Mets this weekend.
Zach Davies will get the start for them today and he is definitely hittable.
One person who won’t be hitting off him today is Josh Bell. He left yesterday’s game early due to a knee injury.
That’s a blow to the Washington lineup as Bell leads the team in both batting average and RBI.
Still, this team has guys like Juan Soto who can put some runs on the board and I really don’t think Arizona can do what they did yesterday.
$10 bet on the Nationals.
STL (108) at MIA (-126)
Pick: Bet $10 STL
Notes: Stop me if you’ve heard this one before. The Marlins have a young pitcher on the mound who looks really good to start the season.
What’s next for the 26-year-old Pablo Lopez?
He’ll probably be traded.
But for today, he is the better starter for sure.
Mostly because the Cardinals won’t have a traditional starter on the mound today.
They will see if Hicks can make the leap to their rotation today.
He’s logged some time in the majors already: 114 appearances including 20 saves over his 3+ seasons of injury-plagued baseball.
So we shall see how far into the game he will go today.
For Miami, this is a chance for their offense to do something – anything – to put up some runs.
Because so far, they have not looked good in this series.
Miami will hit the road to Atlanta today while the Cardinals will head to Ohio to take on the Reds this weekend.
So travel for both team means no advantage to the home team.
And for this home team, they need any advantage they can get in order to be competitive.
My money is on the Cardinals to grab the win here.
$10 bet on St. Louis.
Leans
SF (110) at NYM (-130)
Pick: Lean NYM
CWS (-148) at CLE (126)
Pick: Lean CWS
NYY (-168) at DET (142)
Pick: Lean NYY
TOR (-120) at BOS (102)
Pick: Lean BOS
MIN (-120) at KC (102)
Pick: Lean KC
PIT (120) at CHC (-142)
Pick: Lean CHC
TEX (128) at SEA (-152)
Pick: Lean TEX
NBA
MEM (-2) at MIN (2)
Pick: Bet $10 MIN ML
Total: 236.5 (Lean Under – 235)
Predicted Score: MEM 116 – MIN 119
Notes: This series shifts to Minnesota with the T-Wolves gaining homecourt advantage by taking game 1 in Memphis.
The Grizzlies came out big in game 2 with a 28-point blowout.
Ja Morant is coming off a near triple-double in that one but it was a team effort – 7 players with double digits – that allowed the Grizzlies to get that big win.
Memphis’ defense also held D-Lo and KAT in check.
Back home now, though, you have to expect them to be a bit more aggressive and try to get to the line a bit more.
Hard to imagine Memphis losing this series – so taking today’s game would put them back in the driver’s seat in the series.
Yet, I still like the T-Wolves to grab the home win.
$10 moneyline bet on Minnesota.
GSW (-2) at DEN (2)
Pick: Bet $10 GSW ML
Total: 223.5 (Lean Over – 236)
Predicted Score: GSW 122 – DEN 114
Notes: You almost have to feel sorry for the Nuggets here.
For a couple of months, the Warriors looked mortal due to a series of injuries.
Now they look pretty unstoppable.
The death lineup of Klay, Curry and Poole gives them 3 shooters on the court that can hit shots feet beyond the 3-point line.
Add with the team’s defensive abilities, it’s hard not to see these guys representing the West in the Finals.
Which is good for me since I have a future bet on them to do just that.
This series has not been close. I do think it will be a tad closer now that its shifting to Denver – but the result should be the same.
$10 moneyline bet on the Warriors.
DAL (7) at UTA (-7)
Pick: Lean DAL
Total: 210.5 (Lean Over – 226)
Predicted Score: DAL 114 – UTA 112
NHL
Boston Bruins (105) at Pittsburgh Penguins (-126)
Pick: Bet $10 Boston
Notes: The Penguins last game was 5 days ago and it was a loss in Boston. Now they host the Bruins – who went on to beat the Blues in between that time.
The Bruins are playing the better hockey right now than Pittsburgh has but that’s not saying much.
Neither team is playing at the level they should be heading into the playoffs.
The Penguins have been a pretty solid home team this season but are only 2-3 over their last 5 home games.
The Bruins have played really well on the road down the stretch – going 7-3 over their last 10 road games.
And I like them today to grab another road win.
The value is shrinking on Boston but there is still value to be had.
$10 bet on the Bruins.
