Max’s Sports Bet Picks for 5/13/22
BOS (1) at MIL (-1)
Pick: Bet $10 BOS
Total: 211.5 (Lean Under – 210)
Predicted Score: BOS 106 – MIL 104
Notes: Guess its time to rip the band aid off.
By all accounts, the Celtics should have closed out this series and packed their bags for South Beach.
But instead, they need to win today and then win again in a game 7 in Boston.
One step at a time here, though.
The Bucks are the defending champs and will not just lay down and let the C’s step all over them.
For Boston, they need to play their complete game start to finish.
And for all of the progress that Jayson Tatum has made to become the alpha of this team, there is no way in hell MJ or Kobe would have let Marcus Smart take those shots at the end of game 5.
If he wants to be the man, he’s got to step up today and prove it.
This Boston team is still very young but they have made it to Conference Finals a couple of times.
They know what it takes and if they play their best game, they win this one.
$10 moneyline bet on Boston.
MEM (8.5) at GSW (-8.5)
Pick: Lean MEM
Total: 217 (Lean Over – 225)
Predicted Score: MEM 110 – GSW 115
Notes: Man, how do the Warriors not look at the last game and wonder for hours just what the fuck happened.
That utter beatdown by Memphis was made only worse by the fact that the Grizzlies didn’t have their best player on the court.
But I said on the last show that it seems like the lineup Memphis uses with Morant is actually a worse matchup for the Warriors.
I do expect Golden State to bounce back today and get the win today.
But man, that’s a lot of points.
A lean on Memphis.
New York Rangers (-128) at Pittsburgh Penguins (106)
Pick: Bet $10 Pittsburgh
Notes: The Rangers managed to avoid losing the series in game 5 but I fear they just prolonged the inevitable.
The Pittsburgh offense entered this series as the more dynamic one and has proven that.
I thought that New York’s defense and goaltending could make a difference – but this team has given up an average of 4.6 goals per game in this series.
That’s not going to get it done.
New York did manage to put up 5 goals in their last game but tough for them to do that again.
Sid the Kid was held pointless in the last game and Malkin was held to just 2 assists.
I expect both these guys to come out strong today and help Pittsburgh close out this series.
$10 bet on Pittsburgh.
Florida Panthers (-184) at Washington Capitals (152)
Pick: Lean Florida
Calgary Flames (-170) at Dallas Stars (140)
Pick: Lean Calgary
MIL (-146) at MIA (124)
Pick: Bet $10 MIA
Notes: I have done a terrible job betting on the Brewers this season so now I’ll take a shot betting against them.
Amazing pitching matchup with Burnes taking on Lopez.
Would not be surprised if these guys end the season in a Cy Young race.
Miami’s offense showed up in the series finale against the Diamondbacks and now they return home where their batting average jumps from .228 on the road to .252 in Miami.
That’s good enough for 6th best in the majors at home this year.
This should be a low scoring one but ultimately I like the Marlins, with a plus line, to steal a win today.
$10 bet on the Fish.
TOR (-124) at TB (106)
Pick: Bet $10 TB
Notes: Toronto has lost 4 in a row after suffering a sweep at the hands of the Yankees.
They continue their road trip in Tampa today as they take on a Rays team that avoided a sweep by the Angels.
The Rays are just 9-7 at home this season but that’s still better than the 7-9 that the Blue Jays are on the road.
Looking at offensive numbers, you’d expect the Blue Jays to be far superior than the Rays but that’s really not the case.
Starting pitching wise, the Blue Jays have the name recognition with Kevin Gausman on the mound but Drew Rasmussen is off to a great start to the season.
I’m getting a slight plus line on the Rays here at home and I’ll take a shot.
$10 bet on Tampa.
KC (120) at COL (-142)
Pick: Bet $10 COL
Notes: Now to go to my pair of NL West teams at home as favorites.
First off is the Rockies.
Returning home after a road trip that saw them lose 4 in a row, Colorado is ready to assert some home dominance over the shitty offense of the Royals.
Colorado is 11-5 at home this season and has a .281 batting average at home this season.
KC is the 4th worst road hitting team – with only a .206 batting average.
Zack Greinke will get the start today so maybe the Royals can hang in there a little today but ultimately, I think the Rockies grab the win.
$10 bet on Colorado.
CHC (110) at ARI (-130)
Pick: Bet $10 ARI
Notes: Next up on my NL road trip is the Diamondbacks against the Cubs.
The D-Backs continue their homestand – going 4-2 so far.
I think they grab at least 2 more wins on this homestand as the lowly Cubs are in town.
Chicago did manage to win two road games against the Padres – but I think that’s more an indictment on San Diego than anything else.
Arizona’s offense is one of the worst in the league but it’s been picking up a bit lately.
Zach Davies will take on his former club and face off against Drew Smyly. These guys are pretty evenly matched so no advantage on either side.
I like the D-Backs to get the win today.
$10 bet on Arizona.
