Max’s Sports Bet Picks for 5/7/22
NBA
BOS (1.5) at MIL (-1.5)
Pick: Lean MIL
Total: 212.5 (Lean Under – 211)
Predicted Score: BOS 103 – MIL 108
Notes: The series shifts to Milwaukee with the Bucks grabbing homecourt advantage back from Boston.
Each game has been drastically different – with the Celtics shooting like shit in game and 1 and then unstoppable for most of game 2.
Game 2 also saw Boston contain Giannis for the first half until he started breaking through their defense in the second half.
So what does game 3 have in store?
Who the fuck knows.
Really, this could be a close one or either team could beat the other team by double digits.
I have Milwaukee winning this one but not going to bet them.
Leaning the Bucks here.
MEM (7) at GSW (-7)
Pick: Bet $10 MEM +7
Total: 225.5 (Lean Under – 219)
Predicted Score: MEM 110 – GSW 109
Notes: Steph Curry mentioned that the Warriors could be up 2-0 in this series. What he failed to mention is that they could also be down 2-0.
The Grizzlies have played the Warriors very tough so far and as the series shifts to San Francisco, Ja Morant and crew need to play their best basketball if they expect to win this series.
The Grizzlies will be without Dillon Brooks – who is suspended for this one.
So that will be a hit to this team’s depth for sure.
The Warriors only lost 10 times during the regular season. One of those losses came to the Grizzlies.
Not saying they do it again today but they should keep it close.
$10 bet with Memphis with the points.
NHL
Florida Panthers (-210) at Washington Capitals (168)
Pick: Bet $10 Florida
Notes: The Panthers bounced back in game 2 and look to put their foot on the jugular today.
Washington has a chance to prove that game 1 was not a fluke but if you ask me, which you didn’t, but I’ll tell you anyway, it was a fluke.
The Capitals slipped in the second half of the season – ranking 19th or so in most statistical categories.
The only thing they ended up in a good spot was goals against – ranking 12th. Tied with the Panthers.
Florida ended the year #1 in goals per game, #1 in shots on goal, #1 in high danger shots on goal, #1 in expected goals, and even was slightly unluckier than Washington when it comes to PDO.
So my feeling here is that Florida should win out the rest of the series and that starts today.
$10 bet on Florida.
Colorado Avalanche (-245) at Nashville Predators (198)
Pick: Lean Colorado
New York Rangers (-120) at Pittsburgh Penguins (100)
Pick: Lean New York
Calgary Flames (-170) at Dallas Stars (138)
Pick: Lean Calgary
MLB
STL (128) at SF (-152)
Pick: Bet $10 SF
Notes: Near Elite Steven Matz will take on Logan Webb as St. Louis aims to increase their win streak.
The last 2 games came at the expense of the Giants – who are mired in a 5-game losing streak.
Both starters are 3-1 – with Matz coming off a gem of a game and Webb coming off 3 straight mediocre starts.
I expect Webb to get things right today and the Giants offense to remember that they need to hit the ball and score runs.
$10 bet on the Giants.
MIA (110) at SD (-130)
Pick: Bet $10 MIA
Notes: The Marlins had been overperforming for a stretch and have fell down to Earth – losing 6 in a row.
But they have managed to keep their last 2 close with the Padres and I think there is some value to jump on them today to scratch out a win.
Pablo Lopez will take the mound – looking to shake off a rough performance against the Diamondbacks.
Sean Manaea has been hit hard over this last two outings and while the Marlins don’t have the bats to do a ton of damage against him, they actually have some better hitting stats than the Padres have had this year.
I expect another low-scoring, close one but the Fish should grab the win.
$10 bet on Miami.
TB (-126) at SEA (108)
Pick: Bet $10 TB
Notes: The Mariners have lost 5 in a row and the Rays have won 5 in arow.
Will it get to 6 and 6?
I say yes.
Seattle has kept these games close but with Marco Gonzales on the mound, they might need to come from behind to get this to be close.
Drew Rasmussen has been pretty damn solid for the Rays this season and has been a stabilizing force in the rotation for them.
Tampa is 8-3 on the road and are now only 2 games back of the Yankees in the AL East.
So rumors of their demise may have been a bit premature.
Maybe they get even close to the Yankees today.
$10 be on the Rays.
