Sports Bet Picks for 7/28/21

DET (124) at MIN (-135)

Pitchers: W. Peralta (ERA: 2.72 – Road ERA: 3.64 – Avg. ML: 154) vs. J. Happ (ERA: 6.29 – Home ERA: 4.6 – Avg. ML: -108)

Pick: Bet $10 DET

Notes: Despite not knowing who he was, Wily Peralta has done a good job as a starter for the Tigers this season and he matches up against a pitcher who could be on the move. Teams might take a small flyer on Happ based on his body of work but that has not been the case this season.

Through 2 games in this series, 2 games have gone extra innings. Which means Detroit can keep it close. Minnesota is a team in flux and Detroit is a young team trying to figure things out. Those teams can be dangerous. Maybe not Pirates-dangerous. But still dangerous.

$10 bet on Detroit.

HOU (-116) at SEA (107)

Pitchers: J. Odorizzi (ERA: 4.71 – Road ERA: 3.83 – Avg. ML: -127) vs. Y. Kikuchi (ERA: 3.93 – Home ERA: 4.48 – Avg. ML: 117)

Pick: Bet $10 SEA

Notes: Well, I leaned Seattle yesterday because the plus line was insane. I had Houston winning but was tough to resist that payout. Now, the payout is pretty much nothing but I still like Seattle here today because, shit, I have them actually winning this one. Odorizzi has not been super reliable this season and shockingly, Kikuchi has not been awful – though maybe his last 3 starts are an indication he’s regressing back to his normal shitty self.

The Mariners are a tough team to beat at home and even yesterday had to have Houston sweating.

$10 bet on Seattle.

WSH (179) at PHI (-197)

Pitchers: P. Corbin (ERA: 5.83 – Road ERA: 6.22 – Avg. ML: 106) vs. Z. Wheeler (ERA: 2.42 – Home ERA: 2.12 – Avg. ML: -113)

Pick: Bet $10 PHI

Notes: Near Elite Zach Wheeler has a home ERA of 2.12 and has asserted himself as the Philly’s staff ace. Yet, I can’t take the “near” off his elite status just yet. He’s had a few blips recently that made me remember his days of Mets-past. But still, he’s a heck of a pitcher and Pat Corbin, right now, is not.

The trade rumors in Washington are heating up and while the big name is Scherzer, Corbin could be another guy to get the boot. They won’t get much for him, but some pitching-depleted teams could take a gamble on him.

The Nats grabbed a win in Philly yesterday and I don’t think they make it two in a row. A chalky one for sure, but I have Philly winning this one easily.

$10 bet on the Phillies.

CWS (-172) at KC (157)

Pitchers: L. Giolito (ERA: 3.83 – Road ERA: 4.65 – Avg. ML: -143) vs. K. Bubic (ERA: 5.81 – Home ERA: 3.93 – Avg. ML: 130)

Pick: Bet $10 KC

Notes: Here comes my third flyer of the day. KC has not bowed down to Chicago in this series. Yes, the White Sox got the win yesterday but it did not come easy. The Royals have managed to win 3 of their last 5 home series. And sure, they swept the Tigers and beat up a hapless Twins team. But they also kicked around Boston.

So I would not be shocked if they can get the series lead against the other Sox today. And maybe the Royals finish them off tomorrow when the series closes.

$10 bet on KC.
