Max’s Sports Bet Picks for 8/2/22
CIN (112) at MIA (-132)
Pick: Bet $10 MIA
Notes: In the 12 games since the All-Star break, the Marlins have gone 4-8 with a -24 run differential in that span.
So yeah, I was thrilled when my spreadsheet told me to bet the Fish today.
At least they have one of their young ace pitchers on the mound as … Braxton Garrett takes the mound.
Joking aside, Garrett is a pretty good pitcher with better numbers that opposing pitcher Graham Ashcraft.
The Reds have won 3 in a row and after being on pace to be the worst team in MLB history, they are now better than 5 teams in this league.
Still, they grabbed a win yesterday and they’ve only manage to win 4 straight games twice this season.
Not sure they can make it a third time.
$10 bet on Miami.
SEA (144) at NYY (-172)
Pick: Bet $10 SEA
Notes: Both the Mariners and the Yankees continue to be buyers heading into the trade deadline.
The Yanks traded for Frankie Montas yesterday and will look to further upgrade their pitching in order to get back on track.
They will put a pretty solid pitcher on the mound today as 10-2 Jameson Taillon gets the nod.
The problem is he will be facing off against an equally good Logan Gilbert.
The Yankees battered the Mariners yesterday but I think there’s some value in Seattle bouncing back today.
$10 bet on the Mariners.
TOR (-148) at TB (126)
Pick: Bet $10 TB
Notes: The second half of the season has not been good for the Rays but 7 of their 10 games have been on the road.
They are home today where they are 32-20 this season.
The Blue Jays have played better on the road lately but are still 23-24 on the road this season.
Fairly even pitching matchup with Gausman taking on Rasmussen.
I do think Toronto has turned a corner and will improve their road play to make a playoff push.
But I’m also not ready to write off the Rays.
They aren’t a great team or a team I’d pick to make a deep playoff run, but they are still talented and a thorn in the side of the AL East elites.
I like them to grab a win today.
$10 bet on Tampa.
