Sports Bet Picks for 8/21/21

MIN (202) at NYY (-223)

Pitchers: K. Maeda (ERA: 4.33 – Road ERA: 5.51 – Avg. ML: -119) vs. G. Cole (ERA: 3.08 – Home ERA: 2.65 – Avg. ML: -176)

Pick: Bet $10 NYY

Notes: Hit on the Yankees yesterday and looks like I’m on them today. Cole was decent in his firsts start since returning from COVID but almost doesn’t matter. Maeda is hittable and the Yankees are hitting right now. $10 bet on New York.

WSH (201) at MIL (-222)

Pitchers: P. Espino (ERA: 4.65 – Road ERA: 6.85 – Avg. ML: 124) vs. E. Lauer (ERA: 2.95 – Home ERA: 2.93 – Avg. ML: -116)

Pick: Bet $10 MIL

Notes: I liked Washington yesterday but not enough to bet them. That seemed like the winnable game for them with Anderson on the mound. They could have a chance against Lauer today too if they get his pitch count up. He’s pitched well the past month or so but has rarely gone past 5 innings.

Still, I don’t see Washington getting two in a row against the Giannis-owned Brewers. $10 bet on Milwaukee.

LAA (116) at CLE (-125)

Pitchers: R. Detmers (ERA: 7.15 – Road ERA: 9 – Avg. ML: 194) vs. T. McKenzie (ERA: 4.99 – Home ERA: 4.58 – Avg. ML: 119)

Pick: Bet $10 LAA

Notes: Cleveland dominated the Angels yesterday and with Reid Detmers on the mound today, the Angels could find themselves in a deficit again. That’s if the Guardians offense continues to produce runs like it has the past week or so.

Triston McKenzie has had 3 good starts in a row but I think Anaheim gets to him today. Possibly eye the over 9 here but my bet is a $10 bet on the Angels.

SEA (135) at HOU (-147)

Pitchers: L. Gilbert (ERA: 4.6 – Road ERA: 3.6 – Avg. ML: 120) vs. J. Odorizzi (ERA: 5.17 – Home ERA: 4.75 – Avg. ML: -121)

Pick: Bet $10 SEA

Notes: Well, Houston’s offense showed up yesterday. But I still am not in love with how they have been playing lately. So with Odorizzi on the mound and the inconsistency of play by the bats, I think there is some value in taking Seattle today. Gilbert has pitched better on the road and Seattle has been a decent enough road team this season.

$10 bet on the Mariners.

ATL (-191) at BAL (174)

Pitchers: D. Smyly (ERA: 4.59 – Road ERA: 4.56 – Avg. ML: -111) vs. M. Harvey (ERA: 6.55 – Home ERA: 6.85 – Avg. ML: 158)

Pick: Bet $10 BAL

Notes: Lottery ticket here. Baltimore has lost 16 games in a row and continues to be run-lined. I think that ends today with the Dark Knight on the mound. Granted, he’s once again slumping and granted, the Braves offense is damn good. But Baltimore can’t lose them all, right?

$10 bet on the Orioles.

PIT (182) at STL (-201)

Pitchers: D. Peters (ERA: 2.14 – Road ERA: 0 – Avg. ML: 178) vs. J. Happ (ERA: 6.18 – Home ERA: 5.63 – Avg. ML: -110)

Pick: Bet $10 STL

Notes: I was wrong on St. Louis yesterday and I don’t think I can be wrong on them twice in a row. Maybe it’s chasing some waterfalls or maybe its gamblers fallacy. But I can’t envision a world where the goddamn, pain in my ass Pirates win again today.

J.A. Happ has pitched well in his two starts in the NL and I think he gets it done again today. $10 bet on the Cardinals.

ARI (133) at COL (-145)

Pitchers: Z. Gallen (ERA: 5.2 – Road ERA: 5.72 – Avg. ML: 142) vs. K. Freeland (ERA: 4.43 – Home ERA: 4.86 – Avg. ML: 153)

Pick: Bet $10 ARI

Notes: I kind of liked the Diamondbacks yesterday and glad I didn’t jump on them because now I get to jump on them today. Zac with a C takes the mound and I think there is some value with Arizona today – despite their terrible road record and Colorado’s amazing home record.

$10 bet on the D-Backs.

PHI (152) at SD (-166)

Pitchers: A. Nola (ERA: 4.59 – Road ERA: 5.65 – Avg. ML: -129) vs. J. Musgrove (ERA: 3.32 – Home ERA: 2.44 – Avg. ML: -147)

Pick: Bet $10 PHI

Notes: The Phillies got it done yesterday and the Padres have now lost 4 in a row – now only a half game up on the Reds for the other Wild Card spot. The Phillies gave up the NL East by losing 7 of their last 10 games. Still, it’s better than the 2-8 record that San Diego has over their last 10.

Eh, screw it. Another road dog play. Meaning I am in for a world of pain today.

$10 bet on the Phillies.

Leans

CWS (122) at TB (-132)

Pitchers: D. Keuchel (ERA: 4.41 – Road ERA: 4.88 – Avg. ML: -116) vs. L. Patino (ERA: 5.24 – Home ERA: 2.09 – Avg. ML: -107)

Pick: Lean TB

KC (104) at CHC (-112)

Pitchers: K. Bubic (ERA: 6.08 – Road ERA: 6.65 – Avg. ML: 134) vs. K. Thompson (ERA: 0 – Home ERA: 0 – Avg. ML: 162)

Pick: Lean CHC

DET (227) at TOR (-253)

Pitchers: W. Peralta (ERA: 3.92 – Road ERA: 4.84 – Avg. ML: 137) vs. H. Ryu (ERA: 3.83 – Home ERA: 4.34 – Avg. ML: -138)

Pick: Lean DET

NYM (236) at LAD (-264)

Pitchers: R. Hill (ERA: 4.02 – Road ERA: 3.87 – Avg. ML: -111) vs. M. Scherzer (ERA: 2.72 – Home ERA: 2.36 – Avg. ML: -120)

Pick: Lean LAD

SF (-117) at OAK (108)

Pitchers: K. Gausman (ERA: 2.42 – Road ERA: 1.56 – Avg. ML: -120) vs. S. Manaea (ERA: 3.81 – Home ERA: 3.79 – Avg. ML: -120)

Pick: Lean SF

MIA () at CIN ()

Pitchers: Z. Thompson (ERA: 2.93 – Road ERA: 3.5 – Avg. ML: 134) vs. W. Miley (ERA: 2.87 – Home ERA: 2.34 – Avg. ML: -103)

Pick: TBD

TEX (281) at BOS (-319)

Pitchers: J. Lyles (ERA: 5.78 – Road ERA: 5.95 – Avg. ML: 152) vs. E. Rodriguez (ERA: 5.56 – Home ERA: 5.63 – Avg. ML: -112)

Pick: Lean BOS
