Max’s Sports Bet Picks for 8/24/21

Sports Bet Picks for 8/24/21

TB (-115) at PHI (106)

Pitchers: D. Rasmussen (ERA: 2.7 – Road ERA: 4.5 – Avg. ML: -137) vs. R. Suarez (ERA: 2.67 – Home ERA: 1.43 – Avg. ML: -110)

Pick: Bet $10 TB

Notes: The Phillies had a chance to take the NL East and squandered it. Now they host a team that has taken control of the AL East and doesn’t plan on letting it slip away. Tampa has won 7 of their last 10 games and has improved to 34-25 on the road this year.

Rasmussen has not been stellar on the road – posting a 4.5 ERA – but Ranger Suarez is a glorified opener and Tampa should be able to get to the Phillies’ bullpen.

$10 bet on the Rays.

CWS (113) at TOR (-122)

Pitchers: D. Cease (ERA: 4.16 – Road ERA: 6.11 – Avg. ML: -121) vs. J. Berrios (ERA: 3.74 – Home ERA: 3.2 – Avg. ML: -132)

Pick: Bet $10 CWS

Notes: Well, I was wrong on this game yesterday so might aw well be wrong two days in a row. The White Sox are one of the better teams with a shit road record. They dropped below .500 yesterday after that loss and despite a 9-game lead in the AL Central – they cannot afford to keep losing on the road.

That was their 3rd loss in a row – all on the road. Toronto hasn’t faired much better playing in Canada compared to playing in Florida or Albany. They still are an inconsistent team. And yes, with Berrios on the mound, they have the starting pitcher advantage today – but I still like the value of Chicago with a plus line.

$10 bet on the White Sox.

TEX (143) at CLE (-156)

Pitchers: T. Hearn (ERA: 5.63 – Road ERA: 0 – Avg. ML: 163) vs. E. Morgan (ERA: 5.1 – Home ERA: 6.32 – Avg. ML: 151)

Pick: Bet $10 CLE

Notes: Cleveland has won 4 of 5 and clawed back up to .500. As a Mets fan, I know a 9-game lead is not safe heading into September – so maybe some hot play could make the AL Central interesting. Texas got back to their losing ways yesterday and put spot starter Taylor Hearn on the mound today Hearn has been serviceable and maybe even more effective than Cleveland’s Eli Morgan. Still, I like the Cease & Desists today.

It’s a lot of chalk and I can’t believe I am going to do this for such a lackluster team. But such is sports betting life.

$10 bet on Cleveland.

KC (198) at HOU (-218)

Pitchers: B. Singer (ERA: 5.47 – Road ERA: 5.46 – Avg. ML: 112) vs. L. Garcia (ERA: 3.5 – Home ERA: 1.93 – Avg. ML: -130)

Pick: Bet $10 KC

Notes: Maybe I’m a day late. But I said that a couple of times last week. KC might just have Houston’s number. The Royals will not get the benefit of teeing off a headcase today as they match up against Luis Garcia today. Garcia has had a very good year – though his last month or so has not been as pretty.

Brady Singer has not had a pretty season at all – but he is coming off one of his better starts of the season.

I have Houston winning this game. Just nowhere near the implied probability needed to bet them. So I’ll take a flyer on the Royals today.

$10 bet on KC.

LAA (-125) at BAL (115)

Pitchers: D. Bundy (ERA: 6.31 – Road ERA: 6.03 – Avg. ML: 105) vs. S. Watkins (ERA: 5.87 – Home ERA: 4.71 – Avg. ML: 179)

Pick: Bet $10 BAL (bet this on the show)

SEA (131) at OAK (-142)

Pitchers: C. Flexen (ERA: 3.71 – Road ERA: 5.03 – Avg. ML: 126) vs. C. Irvin (ERA: 3.63 – Home ERA: 3.78 – Avg. ML: -109)

Pick: Lean SEA

ARI (-111) at PIT (102)

Pitchers: M. Bumgarner (ERA: 4.1 – Road ERA: 4.24 – Avg. ML: 130) vs. J. Brubaker (ERA: 5.61 – Home ERA: 4.27 – Avg. ML: 135)

Pick: Lean ARI

SF (104) at NYM (-112)

Pitchers: S. Long (ERA: 5.14 – Road ERA: 5.63 – Avg. ML: -137) vs. T. Megill (ERA: 3.3 – Home ERA: 2.54 – Avg. ML: -105)

Pick: Lean NYM

WSH (-108) at MIA (100)

Pitchers: E. Fedde (ERA: 5.27 – Road ERA: 5.47 – Avg. ML: 134) vs. J. Luzardo (ERA: 7.6 – Home ERA: 6.35 – Avg. ML: 108)

Pick: Lean WSH

MIN (192) at BOS (-212)

Pitchers: G. Jax (ERA: 4.05 – Road ERA: 4.24 – Avg. ML: 131) vs. T. Houck (ERA: 3.66 – Home ERA: 3.63 – Avg. ML: -114)

Pick: Lean BOS

NYY (128) at ATL (-139)

Pitchers: A. Heaney (ERA: 5.64 – Road ERA: 5.82 – Avg. ML: -105) vs. C. Morton (ERA: 3.46 – Home ERA: 3.9 – Avg. ML: -139)

Pick: Lean NYY

DET (202) at STL (-224)

Pitchers: C. Mize (ERA: 3.76 – Road ERA: 3.85 – Avg. ML: 134) vs. J. Flaherty (ERA: 2.7 – Home ERA: 1.74 – Avg. ML: -112)

Pick: Lean STL

COL (-140) at CHC (129)

Pitchers: G. Marquez (ERA: 3.62 – Road ERA: 4.39 – Avg. ML: 114) vs. J. Steele (ERA: 5 – Home ERA: 5.4 – Avg. ML: 162)

Pick: Lean COL

CIN (170) at MIL (-186)

Pitchers: T. Mahle (ERA: 3.75 – Road ERA: 1.75 – Avg. ML: -118) vs. C. Burnes (ERA: 2.08 – Home ERA: 2.25 – Avg. ML: -145)

Pick: Lean MIL

LAD () at SD ()

Pitchers: J. Urias (ERA: 3.35 – Road ERA: 2.91 – Avg. ML: -170) vs. R. Weathers (ERA: 5.84 – Home ERA: 7.44 – Avg. ML: -126)

Pick: TBD
