Max’s Sports Bet Picks for 8/4/22

Sports Bet Picks for 8/4/22

MLB

CWS (-132) at TEX (112)

Pick: Bet $10 CWS

Notes: The White Sox were quiet at the trade deadline and I guess they figured they have what they need to make a playoff push.

Sitting two games above .500 and two games back of the Twins in the Central is not a terrible spot to be in.

But for a team that had World Series aspirations, it’s not a great spot either.

They need to win games and lately they have been against lesser competition.

Texas counts as lesser competition.

They are not as awful as some other teams but when you have Oakland and Anaheim in your division, it’s easy to grab some wins.

Johnny Cueto will get the start for Chicago today.

He’s been pretty fucking solid lately and he gives the White Sox a chance to win today.

The Rangers will start pitching prospect Cole Ragans today.

The lefty was selected by Texas in 2016 but then had Tommy John surgery in 2018.

In 2019? Another Tommy John surgery.

This year he has made 10 Double A starts an 8 Triple A starts – combining for a 3.04 ERA and 29.3% strikeout rate.

I wish him luck in his career but today I hope he gets shelled.

$10 bet on Chicago.

COL (235) at SD (-290)

Pick: Bet $10 COL

Notes: There were a few dog plays I looked at today.

Maybe the guys will talk about the ones I passed up.

But here’s the one I’m betting.

The Padres made the move of all moves at the trade deadline.

This is a team that could get dangerous quickly.

They’ve just beaten the Rockies 4 straight times – winning a double header on Tuesday.

The run differential in these 4 games has been the Padres outscoring the Rockies by 21 runs.

Or an average of 5.25 runs per game.

The Padres will start Joe Musgrove – with his 2.65 ERA and 0.99 WHIP.

Colorado will counter with Kyle Freeland and his 4.63 ERA and 1.34 WHIP.

So yeah, I’m betting the Rockies.

Musgrove has not been as sharp since the All-Star break and it’s easy for a team like the Padres to get complacent.

This is a game I could see them slipping away after dominating the Rockies this week.

It’s a value play for sure but the implied probability is way off for me and the plus line is too tempting.

$10 bet on the Rockies.
