Max’s Sports Bet Picks for 8/5/22

Sports Bet Picks for 8/5/22

PIT (134) at BAL (-158)

Pick: Bet $10 PIT

Notes: Both of these teams have won 3 in a row.

The Pirates just swept the Brewers and the Orioles completed a sweep over the Rangers.

Baltimore is returning home from a road trip so they had yesterday off.

The Pirates are hitting the road where they are only 19-33 this season.

Both teams were active at the deadline – dealing some pieces away to get some future assets.

For Baltimore, it could have impacted a playoff run this season but maybe gives them hope to be competitive for the next few years.

The Pittsburgh, they will continue to be a shit franchise that churns out prospects for other teams to pay eventually.

26-year-old Mitch Keller could be a guy that ends up on another team some day.

Through 4 seasons with the Pirates, he has not shown the kind of stuff that Gerrit Cole had in Pittsburgh.

But this seasons has shown some improvement and lately he’s been really good.

With how he’s pitching and how hittable Dean Kremer has been the past month or so, I think the value in this game is on Pittsburgh.

$10 bet on the Pirates.

COL (114) at ARI (-134)

Pick: Bet $10 COL

Notes: OK, so I made some money betting on the Rockies yesterday with a big plus line and I should probably just call it quits on them.

Yet this plus line is calling me back today.

The Rockies are awful on the road.

I get that.

I think this game comes down to which MadBum shows up today.

Looking back at his last month or so of starts, it’s a lesson in inconsistency.

The dude is still capable of going 8 strong innings or dropping a steaming dump on the field in under 5 innings.

I’m banking on him going for the latter.

As long as the Rockies don’t slip on the shit as they are rounding the bases, it should be fine.

$10 bet on Colorado.

SD (134) at LAD (-158)

Pick: Bet $10 LAD

Notes: Presumptive NL Cy Young winner Tony Gonsolin will take the mound today.

He’s 12-1 with a 2.41 ERA and a 0.90 WHIP.

My concern though is that he’s on the decline right now.

Maybe he peaked early because his last few starts and even his appearance in the All-Star game have not been good.

Still, the Dodgers offense seams to bail him out.

They might need to do that again today against the mighty Padres offense.

Granted, that offense got smoked by the Rockies yesterday.

But still, a dangerous team for sure.

LA should be able to get to Sean Manaea today.

At least I hope so.

$10 bet on the Dodgers.
