Max’s Sports Bet Picks for 9/10/21
MLB
MIL (-148) at CLE (136)
Pitchers: A. Houser (ERA: 3.64 – Road ERA: 4.46 – Avg. ML: -116) vs. E. Morgan (ERA: 4.96 – Home ERA: 6.61 – Avg. ML: 149)
Pick: Bet $10 CLE
Notes: Despite being 12 games up in the NL Central, the Brewers keep winning. They have won 2 in a row and 4 of their last 5. That’s not to say they are playing very good baseball at the moment. Over the past 2 weeks, they are 22nd in runs scored and 14th in batting average. The Guardians are 13th in runs scored and 9th in batting average in that same time span.
As for pitching, the Brewers have a team ERA of 4.17 the past 2 weeks – ranking 15th in the majors. Cleveland has a 3.60 team ERA – good for 6th in that time span.
But for some reason, the Cease and Desists cannot string together wins like the Brewers can. They are a .500 team and much like my Mets squadron of earlier this week, they are 69-69. Nice.
I think they briefly get above .500 today with a home win. $10 bet on Cleveland.
TEX (154) at OAK (-168)
Pitchers: G. Otto (ERA: 1.96 – Road ERA: 4.29 – Avg. ML: 193) vs. P. Blackburn (ERA: 4.38 – Home ERA: 1.76 – Avg. ML: 133)
Pick: Bet $10 TEX
Notes: Texas is 20-51 on the road this season and before this week started, they only had 16 road wins. They have managed to win 4 games in a row – all on the road – beating the Angles once and sweeping the D-Backs. Can they make it 5 in a row? Probably not. But with this plus line and former Yankee prospect Glenn Otto on the mound, I kind of like them in a lottery ticket.
Despite winning two in a row against the White Sox, Oakland is not playing great baseball lately. They have a team ERA that ranks 28th over the past 2 weeks and their offense has been middle of the pack. Oakland is in a crowded field for the Wild Card spots and fell behind Seattle recently. They cannot afford to lose many more games.
But I think they could lose today. $10 bet on the Rangers.
ARI (135) at SEA (-154)
Pitchers: M. Bumgarner (ERA: 4.56 – Road ERA: 4.79 – Avg. ML: 128) vs. M. Gonzales (ERA: 4.36 – Home ERA: 4.46 – Avg. ML: 107)
Pick: Bet $10 SEA
Notes: These two teams matched up last week in Arizona and the Mariners easily handled the D-Backs. The series shifts to Seattle and I expect more of the same. Bumgarner and Gonzales match-up fairly well statistically and both are coming off shaky starts. But Gonzales has looked overall fairly decent the past month. While MadBum has really just looked like a bum.
Seattle’s hitting has not been great lately but their pitching has more than made up for it. I usually like taking them at home with a plus line, but I’ll still take them at home eating some chalk.
$10 bet on the Mariners.
Leans
SF (-154) at CHC (135)
Pitchers: J. Jackson (ERA: 4.58 – Road ERA: 0 – Avg. ML: 144) vs. K. Hendricks (ERA: 4.72 – Home ERA: 5.6 – Avg. ML: -101)

Pick: Lean LAD
