Max’s Sports Bet Picks for 9/17/21

MLB

Sports Bet Picks for 9/17/21

CLE (150) at NYY (-163)

Pitchers: Z. Plesac (ERA: 4.59 – Road ERA: 4.88 – Avg. ML: 103) vs. C. Kluber (ERA: 4.15 – Home ERA: 2.93 – Avg. ML: -157)

Pick: Bet $10 CLE

Notes: The Yankees find themselves in 4th place in the AL East which sounds pretty bad. But in reality, only a half game separates them, the Blue Jays and the Red Sox. So all is not lost. But they have to start winning some ballgames. Talk about a bipolar team.

The Yankees practically went undefeated in August. Only to go on to lose 11 of 13 games to kick off September. They have a stretch right here against the Guardians and Rangers where they can make up some ground before closing the season with 9 consecutive division games.

My problem is I don’t think they automatically run the board against Cleveland here. They are a pretty good road team and Corey Kluber has not been a reliable starter. More like a somewhat reliable extended opener.

Plesac is pitching well lately and Cleveland’s offensive metrics have been pretty similar to the Yankees the past 2 weeks. So I think there is value betting them today.

$10 bet on Cleveland.

CWS (-176) at TEX (161)

Pitchers: D. Cease (ERA: 4.32 – Road ERA: 5.56 – Avg. ML: -123) vs. T. Hearn (ERA: 4.41 – Home ERA: 5.63 – Avg. ML: 151)

Pick: Bet $10 CWS

Notes: The Giants and Dodgers have clinched playoff spots in the NL and in theory, Chicago should be the first to clinch in the AL. If only they could string together a few wins in a row and mathematically eliminate Cleveland from the picture. They are 11 games up with 18 games to play – 5 of those against the Cease and Desists. So it should happen quite soon.

They should get a step closer today by beating the Rangers. Taylor Hearn has pitched pretty well for Texas and the Rangers’ offense has produced more runs the past 2 weeks than Chicago’s has. And Dylan Cease got lit up in his last outing.

Now I’m starting to talk myself out of this one…

Nah, in Larussa we trust. Right?

$10 bet on Chicago.

ATL (145) at SF (-158)

Pitchers: I. Anderson (ERA: 3.67 – Road ERA: 3.71 – Avg. ML: -120) vs. L. Webb (ERA: 2.84 – Home ERA: 1.69 – Avg. ML: -109)

Pick: Bet $10 SF

Notes: Well, I was wrong on the Giants yesterday but I won’t be today! The Atlanta Braves have lost 3 of 5 games – including a pair at home to the road-dreadful Rockies. Atlanta will put Mr. Anderson on the mound and he’s been pretty good since returning from injury. Logan Webb will get the start for San Francisco and he’s having a pretty damn good year himself.

Over the past 2 weeks, the Giants rank 2nd in overall team ERA, 2nd in overall team WHIP, 2nd in overall runs scored, and 3rd in batting average. Atlanta is not even in the top 10 of those stats.

The Giants have only lost 3 games in a row three times this season and have only lost 3 games in a row at home twice. $10 bet on San Francisco.

Pick: Lean WSH

Pick: Lean TOR

PHI (-139) at NYM (128)

Pitchers: Z. Wheeler (ERA: 2.91 – Road ERA: 3.61 – Avg. ML: -122) vs. T. Walker (ERA: 4.33 – Home ERA: 3.44 – Avg. ML: -103)

Pick: Lean PHI

Pick: Lean SEA
