Max’s Sports Bet Picks for 9/21/21

MLB

Sports Bet Picks for 9/21/21

PIT (165) at CIN (-180)

Pitchers: M. Keller (ERA: 6.29 – Road ERA: 3.68 – Avg. ML: 148) vs. T. Mahle (ERA: 3.57 – Home ERA: 6.15 – Avg. ML: -121)

Pick: Bet $10 PIT

Notes: Well, I missed on the Pirates yesterday but my faith in the Reds doing what they did yesterday is very little. Perhaps that was the offensive awakening they needed to get things back into gear after shitting the bed the past few weeks. Or maybe it was a death rattle.

The one positive thing to say was that the Reds’ bullpen was very good yesterday. After Gutierrez gave up 5 runs through 3.1 innings, 4 pitchers combined to pitch 1-hit ball after that. Can they do it two days in a row?

They won’t need to cover that many innings since Tyler Mahle has pitched very well lately. But I still don’t trust them to have back-to-back solid efforts – especially if they have a lead. Mitch Keller has been decent and had a solid game against the Reds last week.

I think there is value in backing him and the Pirates today. $10 bet on Pittsburgh.

LAD (-199) at COL (181)

Pitchers: J. Urias (ERA: 3.15 – Road ERA: 2.69 – Avg. ML: -172) vs. A. Senzatela (ERA: 4.12 – Home ERA: 3.95 – Avg. ML: 148)

Pick: Bet $10 COL

Notes: My numbers say the Dodgers win this game. And the way Julio Urias has been pitching, I’m inclined to say that not even Coors Field can stop him right now. But come on! The Rockies. At home. +181. I cannot resist this.

Both teams had the day off yesterday after going 2-1 in their weekend series. Both teams are playing very good baseball recently with the Dodgers winning 8 of 10 games and the Rockies winning 7 of 10. If you peel back the onion a bit, it is the Dodgers that have the statistical advantage recently – particularly pitching-wise with a 2.29 ERA the past two weeks

So yeah, a lottery ticket. But not the dumbest thing I’ve done. $10 bet on the Rockies.

HOU (-200) at LAA (165)

Pitchers: J. Urquidy (ERA: 3.45 – Road ERA: 3.64 – Avg. ML: -139) vs. P. Naughton (ERA: 6.06 – Home ERA: 8.44 – Avg. ML: 233)

Pick: Bet $10 HOU

Notes: I bet on the Astros yesterday and they rewarded me with a 10-0 win. I liked that play so much, I’m coming back for seconds today. Hopefully they aren’t sloppy.

Houston has won 4 of 5 games. They are batting .306 the past two weeks and only trail the Blue Jays in runs scored in that time period. If you download and listen to every episode, you would know that I mentioned on yesterday’s show that the Angels’ offense has been shit the past few weeks.

Pitching-wise, Houston is ranked 4th in ERA the past 2 weeks with a 3.23 team ERA compared to the Angels’ 4.58 ERA. Jose Urquidy looked very good in his last start and appears to be healthy after missing a bunch of time with a shoulder issue.

Houston should win this one so I don’t mind double-sipping.

$10 bet on the Astros.
