Max’s Sports Bet Picks for 9/7/21
MLB
TOR (180) at NYY (-198)
Pitchers: S. Matz (ERA: 3.92 – Road ERA: 3.64 – Avg. ML: -124) vs. G. Cole (ERA: 2.75 – Home ERA: 2.43 – Avg. ML: -179)
Pick: Bet $10 TOR
Notes: At the end of July, the Rays tagged Gerrit Cole for 8 runs in 5.1 innings. Since then, he’s pitched insanely well and has been a big reason the Yankees are vying for a playoff spot. He gets the unenviable task of pitching against a Blue Jays team that is 7th in runs scored the past month and batting .260 in that same span – good for 8th in the league.
The Yankees haven’t been too shabby offensively either and will face off against near elite Steven Matz. Matz has had a great season and gives the Jays a chance to hold their own against the Yankees
And with the big plus line here, I am going to back Matz and the Jays to steal one today.
$10 bet on Toronto.
TB (-107) at BOS (-101)
Pitchers: D. Rasmussen (ERA: 2.37 – Road ERA: 3.27 – Avg. ML: -117) vs. E. Rodriguez (ERA: 5.37 – Home ERA: 6.27 – Avg. ML: -115)
Pick: Bet $10 TB
Notes: It was a wild comeback by the Rays yesterday and this final series with the Red Sox should be filled with some more wild stuff. Unless Boston can make it into the playoffs, these next two games will be the last 2 times these 2 teams play this season.
The Rays have the season series lead over the Sox – which is surprising since Boston started the season so hot and won the first 4 games against Tampa this year. But it’s a testament to how well the Rays have played down the stretch and how the Red Sox have wilted a bit.
Drew Rasmussen will get the start today and he’s been very good in providing extended opens for the Rays – going 4-5 innings his last few starts. Maybe he settles into a traditional starter role and can put more innings out there today.
Eduardo Rodriguez has had an up and down season but is coming off a great game against the Rays last week. His August was clearly his best month – settling in to a 3.33 ERA in that span.
Still, I like Tampa to get another win today and frustrate Rodriguez this go around.
$10 bet on the Rays.
SEA (148) at HOU (-162)
Pitchers: L. Gilbert (ERA: 5.35 – Road ERA: 5.4 – Avg. ML: 119) vs. J. Odorizzi (ERA: 4.66 – Home ERA: 4.26 – Avg. ML: -126)
Pick: Bet $10 SEA
Notes: Well, I missed on Seattle yesterday and time to chase some waterfalls. I really thought the Mariners’ game to win was yesterday. 11 runs later I could see that I was wrong. But today is the day! Jake Odorizzi has pitched well against Seattle in his last starts against them but I think they get to him today.
Logan Gilbert is coming off a solid start – after shitting the bed for a month – and hopefully he doesn’t repeat yesterday’s Seattle pitching performance.
$10 bet on the Mariners.
