Max’s Sports Bet Picks for 9/8/21

MLB

Sports Bet Picks for 9/8/21

TOR (103) at NYY (-112)

Pitchers: A. Manoah (ERA: 3.71 – Road ERA: 4.43 – Avg. ML: -127) vs. L. Gil (ERA: 0 – Home ERA: 0 – Avg. ML: -137)

Pick: Bet $10 TOR

Notes: I hit on the Blue Jays yesterday probably because Gerrit Cole had to leave the game early. But more than likely because the Yanks are slumping a bit. They have lost 4 in a row – all to division opponents – and are on the verge of losing the first 3 of this 4 game set.

And with Alek Manoah on the mound – who made his major league debut against New York – I have the feeling that is what will happen today. New York will answer with Luis Gil as their starter. The rookie has looked good in the limited innings he’s pitched.

Manoah is coming off a terrible outing against the A’s but I don’t see that happening two games in a row. Toronto has won 6 in a row and they are nipping at the Yankees’ heels for a playoff spot. They should get a game closer today.

$10 bet on Toronto.

TB (-104) at BOS (-104)

Pitchers: S. McClanahan (ERA: 3.55 – Road ERA: 3.3 – Avg. ML: -134) vs. N. Eovaldi (ERA: 3.79 – Home ERA: 3.08 – Avg. ML: -123)

Pick: Bet $10 TB

Notes: Time for Max’s double-dip part 2. I loved Tampa Bay yesterday and I love them again today. The starting pitching matchup is fairly even as McClanahan and Eovladi have similar stats. So it’ll come down to bullpen and which team is playing overall better baseball. And that’s the Tampa Bay Rays.

Tampa is locked into finishing the season strong and making another push to the World Series. I love what I am seeing from them on the field right now and they should complete the sweep today.

$10 bet on the Rays.

CIN (-128) at CHC (118)

Pitchers: V. Gutierrez (ERA: 4.21 – Road ERA: 3.59 – Avg. ML: 112) vs. A. Mills (ERA: 3.69 – Home ERA: 4.43 – Avg. ML: 122)

Pick: Bet $10 CHC

Notes: I hit on the first game of this series and backed off yesterday. I should just take my money and run but what fun would that be? The Cubs have played the Reds very hard lately and are trying to play spoiler. The Reds are in a virtual tie with the underperforming Padres and cannot afford to lose against a team like Chicago.

On the season, Gutierrez and Mills have very similar stats but looking at recency, it’s Mills who has stepped up a bit while Gutierrez is slumping. The Cubs’ offense is also matching up well with the Reds the past month – ranking 12th in the MLB in batting average (compared to the Reds at 21st) and 9th in runs scored (only 1 run behind the Reds at 8th).

So yeah, Chicago may have traded away most of their team, but the players they have swapped in are producing more than thumbs down Baez and Kris Bryant.

With the Cubs at home with the plus line, I’ll double dip for the third time today. $10 bet on Chicago.
