Max’s Notes

XFL

Wildcats at Guardians

The Wildcats got their first win last week with a big win over the Defenders. The Guardians lost their second straight and have given up 28 points per game during those last 2 games and have averaged 4.5 of their own. The Guardians might actually get a boost this week as QB Matt McGloin is out. He’s been pretty dreadful. Their best hope might just be former AAFer Luis Perez. The Wildcats have a solid defense, though, and the Guardians offense won’t be able to do much today no matter who they trot out at QB. The Wildcats are traveling East – which is always a challenge.

Pick: But nonetheless, I’ll bet the Wildcats.

O/U: This is a tough one. The Guardians offense has me going with the under here though.

Dragons at Battlehawks

St. Louis is one of the better teams in the league. Their lone loss was a 4 point loss to Jude Law’s Roughnecks. Seattle is coming off a bad home loss to Dallas. The Battlehawks offense doesn’t have the flash that Houston’s does but it’s pretty damn good. They have a very good offensive line and they don’t put up numbers because they run 59% of the time. Jordan Ta’amu has been stellar at QB and faces a Dragons defense that gets shredded in the air.

Pick: It’s chalky as hell but I think St. Louis can win by 2 TDs here. I’ll bet the Battlehawks.

O/U: I still like the under here. Double fallacy doesn’t apply if you win 24-10.

Roughnecks at Renegades

The Vipers kept it within 7 last week with the Roughnecks but that offense keeps putting up numbers. Dallas has won two in row after a rough first game. Landry Jones has been ok for Dallas but is no match for Houston’s P.J. Walker – who should put up big numbers against this iffy Dallas secondary.

Picks: I can’t fade the Roughnecks just yet. I’ll bet Houston.

O/U: The Over keeps going any higher and I’ll say under but for now, I like the over here.

Defenders at Vipers

The Vipers were supposed to be an elite team but they are now 0-3. They did manage to keep it within 8 last week but that’s still not something to be happy about for this team. They need a win and it’ll be tough with the Defenders in town. DC was looking good in the first two weeks but looked pretty bad last week. Aaron Murray is back for Tampa but apparently won’t start. I think the Defenders defense should have a field day no matter what today.

Pick: I’ll take bet the Defenders here.

O/U:  Definitely like the under here.

NBA

Rockets at Celtics

Houston has won 5 in a row dating back to before the all star break when the beat Boston to start this streak. But the Celtics have won 2 in a row and head back to Boston after 3-1 road trip. Great matchup here but Kemba Walker continues to be out. Boston is 23-5 straight up and 17-10-1 ATS at home. The Rockets are pretty good on the road but I like Tatum and crew to win this one. I’ll bet Boston.

Bulls at Knicks

The Bulls continue to have health issues and have lost 3 of 4 to start the break. This is a talented team that just can’t get it to click. But they get the good luck of heading to New York to face a hapless Knicks team. New York has lost 6 straight and I don’t see them as favorites here. I’ll bet the Bulls.

Trail Blazers at Hawks

Atlanta is on a back to back after a big win over the Nets last night. The Blazers are 10-21 (SU) and 13-18 (ATS) on the road. Still, I’ll lean Portland here.

Nets at Heat

The Nets got hammered last night and the Heat won another at home last night and they should win another today. I’ll lean Miami.

Pacers at Cavs

The Pacers have won 3 of 4 to start the break and hit the road where they are only 14-14. Cleveland disappointed me last night and they won’t again tonight because I am only leaning the Cavs.

Lakers at Grizzlies

Lakers are more than likely without LeBron again. LA has won 7 in a row and head to Memphis to face a Grizzlies team that has lost 5 straight. Those streaks should continue but I like Memphis with the points today. I’ll lean the Grizzlies.

Magic at Spurs

Orlando has won 3 in a row to help their playoff push. The Spurs returned home with a dud against Dallas on Wednesday. LaMarcus Aldridge is still out for San Antonio. So I’ll lean Orlando here.

Warriors at Suns

The Warriors are on the front end of a back to back and tomorrow they get Steph Curry back. So that does them no good in Phoenix tonight. The Warriors 8 game losing streak will continue. I’ll lean the Suns.

NHL

Devils at Kings

The Kings got a surprise win over Pittsburgh on Wednesday but the way the Penguins have been playing maybe not so surprising. The Devils dropped a close one to the Sharks on Thursday but I like them here to bounce back and win. I’ll bet the Devils.

Avalanche at Predators

I hit on Colorado yesterday and I like them again today. Amazing road team and their offense is clicking. The Predators are playing well lately and are decent enough at home but if you get the Avalanche as a plus line, you usually take it. Betting Colorado.
