Hey everyone, Mad Max here. Since my voice has been silenced on the show lately I felt the need to put on paper some additional thoughts for the week. Welcome to the first edition of the Good, the Mad and the Ugly.
NHL has been an experiment for me this season. I had some success in the NHL playoffs last season until the Islanders decided they were done with the whole winning games thing. So I started some light NHL betting and have had mixed results. Recently though? I’ve won 8 of my last 10 NHL bets. My favorite game this past week was the aforementioned Islanders +105 on Friday over the Tampa Bay Lightning. I loved that game and nailed it. Also, Saturday’s match-up of the Canucks and Sharks was clearly a trap and I bet against it. Hit that at +125.
As good as I did in the NHL this week one game haunts me. I picked the Predators over the Flames on Thursday night and was feeling good going into the 3rd period with Nashville up 4-1. Before I knew it, it was 4-4 and then 5-5. The Flames ended up winning in OT. It was ugly but not as ugly as…
…Wednesday night’s matchup of the Timberwolves and Sixers was memorable because Karl Anthony Towns and Joel Embiid got into a slap fight. Ben Simmons put the camel clutch on KAT and he could t get to the ropes so had to submit. But that’s not what makes me mad. I had the T-Wolves in that game +7 and they got beaten by 22. It was my worst loss of the week (even edging out my over confidence with the Celtics over the Knicks).
