Max’s Sports Bet Picks for 6/1/21
BOS (12) at BKN (-12)
Pick: Lean BOS
Total: 231.5 (Lean Under – 222)
Predicted Score: BOS 107 – BKN 115
Notes: After dropping 39 points, stomping on the Celtics logo and getting a plastic bottle tossed at his head, Kyrie Irving will be glad to be back to Brooklyn to close out the series against his former team.
It’s odd saying that Boston was his former team. In the short time he played there, I vaguely recall him playing. He certainly didn’t play meaningful playoff minutes for the Celtics like he is now for Brooklyn.
The Nets are the better team. They have more star players and a deeper bench. The fact that Boston didn’t get swept is my saving grace. That and the outstanding play of Jayson Tatum. I’m hoping he drops 70 tonight. Boston would still probably lose by 30.
A lean on Boston here with the points.
POR (2) at DEN (-2)
Pick: Lean POR
Total: 226 (Lean Over – 227)
Predicted Score: POR 113 – DEN 114
Notes: Portland got a big win in game 4 to tie up the series. This has been the only series so far that has been entertaining each game.
If Denver was healthy, maybe they’d have more of an edge. But as it stands, this remains a coin flip of a series. I flipped the coin today and it said Denver wins but doesn’t cover.
Really, I have this as a 1-point game. So seriously, flip a coin and enjoy a good game.
LAL (5) at PHX (-5)
Pick: Bet $15 PHX ML (-192)
Total: 207 (Lean Over – 208)
Predicted Score: LAL 102 – PHX 106
Notes: I hit on the Suns on Sunday mostly because I knew Anthony Davis’ knee was acting up and I had a feeling that he wouldn’t be 100%. Without him, the Lakers are sunk. And from what I can see, he is “iffy” for today. Chris Paul played 32 minutes in the last game and looked good in scoring 18 and dishing out 9 assists.
I feel like I need a new Excel to calculate the IF statement in this game but here you go. If Chris Paul is missing from the Suns, they can’t win, however, if Anthony Davis is out for the Lakers, they can’t win, and the Suns without Chris Paul could still beat them. Following?
$15 ML bet on the Suns.
Tampa Bay Lightning (-101) at Carolina Hurricanes (-110)
Pick: Bet $20 Carolina
Notes: Tampa Bay took game 1 and has no secured home ice in this series. A win tonight could essentially end the series. I could not fathom a world in which that happens.
That said, I could not fathom a world where the Canadiens would win 3 in a row and knock the Maple Leafs out of the playoffs.
Game 1 was a close one and I imagine we will see most games in this series as being close. Just look at the lines from Vegas to show you how close. Tampa is taking advantage of an incredible hot streak by their goalie.
And if Carolina has any chance in this series, they need to hope that Vasilevskiy cracks a few times. That’s my hope for tonight. $20 bet on the Hurricanes.
CWS (131) at CLE (-142)
Pitchers: D. Cease (ERA: 3.12 – Road ERA: 4.86 – Avg. ML: -104) vs. S. Bieber (ERA: 3.02 – Home ERA: 3.32 – Avg. ML: -148)
Pick: Bet $15 CWS
Notes: Shane Justin Bieber is coming off a great start but that Cleveland offense still has some major issues. These two teams split a doubleheader yesterday and the Indians were able to put up some runs. But the White Sox have more of a chance to score and with this plus line – even against Bieber – I like the value with them today.
MIA (135) at TOR (-146)
Pitchers: S. Alcantara (ERA: 3.5 – Road ERA: 5.36 – Avg. ML: 107) vs. R. Ray (ERA: 3.57 – Home ERA: 2.47 – Avg. ML: 111)
Pick: Bet $15 MIA
Notes: Robbie Ray has had a nice season but the Marlins will look to snap a 3-game losing streak by taking it to him today. The Marlins are not very good on the road – but the Blue Jays don’t even have a home. I like the value with Miami today.
BOS (113) at HOU (-122)
Pitchers: G. Richards (ERA: 3.94 – Road ERA: 2.56 – Avg. ML: -106) vs. L. Garcia (ERA: 3.26 – Home ERA: 2.13 – Avg. ML: -112)
Pick: Bet $15 HOU
Notes: I hit on Houston yesterday and I am going to double dip today. Garcia has been sensational at home this year and the Houston bats feasted on Boston yesterday. I just hope they have some hits left for today’s game.
TEX (104) at COL (-113)
Pitchers: D. Dunning (ERA: 4.85 – Road ERA: 8.35 – Avg. ML: 122) vs. G. Marquez (ERA: 4.21 – Home ERA: 4.97 – Avg. ML: 115)
Pick: Bet $15 TEX
Notes: A shitty match-up here but Colorado has been able to remain competitive at home this season. Dunning has been shelled on the road and should give up some runs at Coors field. But I still like Texas to put up some runs today too and sneak out a win.
MIN (-170) at BAL (156)
Pitchers: M. Pineda (ERA: 2.65 – Road ERA: 2.67 – Avg. ML: -119) vs. B. Zimmermann (ERA: 5.9 – Home ERA: 5.7 – Avg. ML: 141)
Pick: Lean MIN
TB (-118) at NYY (109)
Pitchers: T. Glasnow (ERA: 2.62 – Road ERA: 3.61 – Avg. ML: -146) vs. D. German (ERA: 3.1 – Home ERA: 4.66 – Avg. ML: -136)
Pick: Lean TB
PHI (-103) at CIN (-105)
Pitchers: A. Nola (ERA: 3.77 – Road ERA: 5 – Avg. ML: -140) vs. S. Gray (ERA: 3.62 – Home ERA: 3.4 – Avg. ML: -104)
Pick: Lean CIN
WSH (123) at ATL (-134)
Pitchers: S. Strasburg (ERA: 4.48 – Road ERA: 15.75 – Avg. ML: -119) vs. M. Fried (ERA: 4.63 – Home ERA: 3.91 – Avg. ML: -131)
Pick: Lean ATL
DET (146) at MIL (-159)
Pitchers: M. Boyd (ERA: 3.5 – Road ERA: 4.66 – Avg. ML: 140) vs. E. Lauer (ERA: 1.59 – Home ERA: 0.82 – Avg. ML: 154)
Pick: Lean MIL
SD (-103) at CHC (-105)
Pitchers: R. Weathers (ERA: 1.48 – Road ERA: 0 – Avg. ML: -111) vs. K. Hendricks (ERA: 4.71 – Home ERA: 4.94 – Avg. ML: -118)
Pick: Lean CHC
PIT (168) at KC (-184)
Pitchers: W. Crowe (ERA: 5.52 – Road ERA: 4.2 – Avg. ML: 147) vs. B. Singer (ERA: 5.11 – Home ERA: 4.25 – Avg. ML: 105)
Pick: Lean KC
NYM (-111) at ARI (103)
Pitchers: M. Stroman (ERA: 2.48 – Road ERA: 2.75 – Avg. ML: -126) vs. C. Smith (ERA: 9 – Home ERA: n/a – Avg. ML: 181)
Pick: Lean NYM
LAA (149) at SF (-163)
Pitchers: A. Heaney (ERA: 5.47 – Road ERA: 4.43 – Avg. ML: -115) vs. A. Wood (ERA: 2.36 – Home ERA: 1.8 – Avg. ML: -103)
Pick: Lean SF
STL (164) at LAD (-180)
Pitchers: J. Gant (ERA: 1.83 – Road ERA: 1.13 – Avg. ML: 114) vs. Undecided
Pick: Lean LAD
OAK (-158) at SEA (145)
Pitchers: C. Bassitt (ERA: 3.25 – Road ERA: 3.48 – Avg. ML: -110) vs. M. Gonzales (ERA: 8.34 – Home ERA: 7.5 – Avg. ML: 116)
Pick: Lean OAK
