Max’s Sports Bet Picks for 4/22/22
MLB
MIL (108) at PHI (-126)
Pick: Bet $10 PHI
Notes: Wisconsin has a lot of dairy farms so I assume they still have milk cartons there. If so, they may want to put 2021 Freddy Peralta on one of them.
Because that dude is missing.
Peralta was 10-5 last season with a 2.81 ERA and a 0.97 WHIP.
This year, through 2 starts, he’s got an 11.57 ERA with a 2.29 WHIP.
Phillies pitcher Ranger Suarez isn’t extremely better – but he’s still the more reliable pitcher at the moment.
Philly’s offense finally woke up. Was that playing in Coors field or will this also translate to other stadiums.
Their homefield typically allows them to produce runs too so this could be a good chance for them to continue on that path to a consistently potent offense.
Or, you know, Schwarber can keep hitting .170 and reigning NL MVP Bryce Harper can keep hitting .220.
As a Mets fan, that would make me happy.
Alas, I do think they start moving the needle towards the norm and start producing more runs.
It should start today.
$10 bet on the Phillies.
MIA (126) at ATL (-148)
Pick: Bet $10 MIA
Notes: Sticking in the NL East – let’s look at the Marlins and the Braves.
Atlanta returns home after a 7-game, West Coast road trip.
The Braves went 3-4 against the Padres and Dodgers and now host consecutive series at home against the Marlins and Cubs.
It’s a good chance for the Braves to make up some ground in the NL East.
The Braves will put Kyle Wright on the mound today. Wright has looked very good to start the season and he should add a few more strikeouts to his total today.
The Marlins’ offense has been feast or famine this season but in key wins over the Phillies and Cardinals this past week, they managed to produce some good offense.
They will need it today as struggling Trevor Rogers takes the bump for them.
Rogers showed incredible promise last season so the hope is that he can work his way through this soon.
I bet against the Marlins yesterday and it bit me in the ass. Now I’ll bet on them today and hope they can grab consecutive wins.
$10 bet on Miami.

NBA
MIA (-1.5) at ATL (1.5)
Pick: Bet $10 ATL ML
Total: 221.5 (Lean Over – 228)
Predicted Score: MIA 109 – ATL 119
Notes: This has been a one-sided series so far but now the series shifts to Atlanta where the Hawks saw much more success this year.
Still, if Jimmy Butler continues to play at the level he has – then it could be the Heat making it back to the Finals.
That will mean Trae Young will need to step up and do whatever he can to win the game today.
Especially with injuries to Lou Williams and Clint Capela.
Miami could be without Bam Adebayo today as the center is listed as questionable for today’s game.
I think this series becomes competitive today. If not, it’ll be a sweep.
I’m banking on playoff Trae and the Hawks to grab this one at home.
$10 moneyline bet on the Hawks.
MIL (-2.5) at CHI (2.5)
Pick: Lean MIL
Total: 222.5 (Lean Over – 235)
Predicted Score: MIL 121 – CHI 114
Notes: Injuries will be the downfall of teams in the playoffs. Will the Bucks miss Middleton and possibly get eliminated without him?
Chicago has the talent to do so but they have not looked complete since losing Ball.
Still, grabbing homecourt advantage mixed with the Middleton injury could result in a Bulls win.
PHX (-2) at NOP (2)
Pick: Lean NOP
Total: 216 (Lean Over – 222)
Predicted Score: PHX 111 – NOP 111
Notes: The big news here is that Booker will be out for a few weeks. Can the Pelicans take advantage and get a series win?
It’s possible.
NHL
Colorado Avalanche (-118) at Edmonton Oilers (-102)
Pick: Bet $10 Edmonton
Notes: I hit on Edmonton a few days back and now I get to eye them up again today.
The competition is much more difficult as one of the best teams in hockey is in town.
Colorado is dealing with a minor losing streak after losing to the Kraken two days ago.
It could be that they are resting a bit since they already have the top spot in the West locked up.
They still could win the Presidents Trophy from Florida – but stuff like that has haunted this team in the past.
Darcy Kuemper should get the start in net for them today. He’s playing good recently but not the unbeatable goalie he was for a stretch of this season.
As for Edmonton, they are playing some damn good hockey lately. The Oilers are 9-1-1 over their last 11 games and riding a 3-game winning streak.
Edmonton is at full strength with no key injuries to note.
Seeing Colorado at this low of a line might be tempting for some. But I think Edmonton, at home, with their full squad healthy, and the aggressive offense they have had lately is the play.
$10 bet on the Oilers.
